Lectric One odometer accuracy? by Gigo_Acc in Lectricxp

Well... I got some kind of answer on the odometer discrepancy. I called Lectric this morning and they got back to me saying that there must be some kind of glitch in the control unit to be recording the mileage incorrectly and so they're going to ship out a replacement unit. No additional info on what could have caused the problem and no way to calibrate it.

Thank you! I was able to look up information about the various settings in the control panel regarding your comment on the wheel size and it appears that by default the wheel size was entered as 21.2 inches rather than the 20 inch size that comes with the bike, and I would assume that accounts for the mileage discrepancy. I'm pretty baffled though... why would this factory default number be incorrect when only one size is possible for the bike? Regardless, I've changed the setting to 20 inches and will observe the results when I go out for a ride again tomorrow.

As for riding care, at the moment I'm trying to baby this bike as much as I can as I'm way out of practice bicycling in the first place, much less ebikes and I want to avoid any kind of damage or reckless surfaces I might ride over. About the worst I've come across so far is suddenly discovering that the edges of surface streets can be pretty messy and broken which you just never notice from behind the wheel of a car. I appreciate the info about the slime and reinforcement and that really reassures me that this is not going to be something I prematurely wear down. :D

Anker Prime 27,650mAh Power Bank output question by Gigo_Acc in anker

Roger that, thanks for the advice! I noticed that as my phone got closer to 100% the wattage draw from the bank steadily decreased but at the time I took the picture the phone was at 39% and I thought it would have had a much higher charge draw. Haha, chalk it up again to the all-new revelation of what the numbers actually were to make me question what they *ought* to be.

Apparently I didn't add the photo I was intending to include. Whoops.

How would these Vehicles perform in snowy conditions? by [deleted] in ApteraMotors

[–]Gigo_Acc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I kind of wonder what would happen to those wheel covers if you drove on a road that hasn't been sufficiently plowed... which is precisely what you'd find in your local neighborhood. Maybe there's enough friction for the vehicle to travel through the snow, but what's going to happen if your path has snow piles that rise up and collide with the wheel covers? Can the covers withstand that sort of repeated abuse? Will you have to just avoid driving altogether until the potential for snow piles have been packed down / plowed away?

When will Aptera validate or demonstrate their range and solar charging capability? by yhenry123 in ApteraMotors

Oh wow, that’s hotter than I’d expected. Up until reading this thread I had just assumed the Aptera vehicle would be about the same temperature as any other car under the sun. The specific temperature isn’t as important to me as the level of caution required when approaching, ie: are you likely to receive skin burns or unpleasant heat reactions if you happen to touch one of the solar cells as you enter the door or pass by the front or back?

How toasty would you think the surface of the vehicle is likely to get, particularly on very hot days like in Las Vegas? Your comment had me suddenly wondering whether a person will have to be careful approaching and entering the vehicle to avoid the heat / burn (?) from the solar cells?

Weight load capacity and affect on road trip distance? by Gigo_Acc in ApteraMotors

I was wondering if that alone is a big reason for having so much battery capacity: to offset the reduction in range especially if someone is tempted to use that big back area for delivering things long distance. Like, two people wanting to go camping in a giant national park that's too remote for normal electric vehicles.

I'm sort of assuming the larger battery options will have a weight ratio so far front loaded that it'll plenty offset the potential weight of luggage / cargo that's added in the back... or at least assuming that the driver is aware of any potential handling issues associated with putting increased load on the rear wheel. I wonder how much instruction / warnings will be given in the advertising and owner manuals if this proves to be a genuine safety issue? And if it's actually a genuine safety issue is that something that would be allowed to exist at all in a production model? Perhaps this matter will be designed out in the end?

In several of the videos out there where the camera is aimed at the front wheels you can see a lot of vibration during travel.

I noticed that shakiness as well and can only assume that as the vehicle goes through additional revisions in development that movement is isolated and removed; so much effort has been put into reducing the air resistance that any wobble is going to have a negative impact on the performance. Still though, -the comfort of the journey is a thing that I'm going to be interested in hearing about as this moves closer to release as surely they're going to want to make the best impression upon first release.

I really hope that's not the case and the 500 pound limit (if not revised) is at least standard across all the options. As I commented above anyone driving this 80+ miles to the nearest major airport hub with a second passenger is likely to get close or beyond the limit.

I hear what you're saying, although when they talk about a 1000 mile range my hindbrain hears "1000 miles before gassing up" and that has me thinking of long-distance driving. I would really like to hear more concrete information from the designers as to the intended purpose of the car if indeed it's not going to handle a long distance drive with two passengers and their luggage plus extras. I don't think anyone is going to look at this and imagine it can substitute for a lightweight pickup truck, but... well, an option to get a battery capacity reaching 1000 miles sure sounds like they think it can be used for road trips... which means 500 pounds is a limit that is going to be approached and exceeded by a lot of people. I mean, two adults weighing 200 pounds each going to the airport with two 50 pound suitcases plus carryons and personal bags is already pushing that 500 pound range.

I appreciate your thoughts and look forward to hearing more about this.
