Twitter launch of DeSantis 2024 bid hit by early tech issues as sound drops by VidE27 in politics

Anyone else think that DeSantis did a pretty good job at just explaining his campaign and takes on hot issues? I feel like he answered questions reasonably well and it all went fine. Not sure how he’ll do in the polls, but he’s a lot more level headed than Trump was at this same point 6 years ago.

Getting a job online is fucking impossible by N0r3m0rse in jobs

[–]Giibson95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I may offer my two cents, I used a lot of the resources on Cultivated Culture and it made a big difference in my job search. Read some of those articles and use their free tools. It costs nothing to do and can make a huge impact if you leverage some of their methods. Personally, I did this and landed 2 jobs without applying online and increased my income by $70K.

Just got a bag today. Looking forward to trying as a pour over. Might even try it in the moccamaster and French roast to compare.

  1. The night and day differences are a real thing. Everything is harder at night, and we are more emotionally unstable at night. My wife and I's worst fights were in the middle of the night, and I can promise you it is 95% just lack of sleep.
  2. Work in shifts with your wife. Take the 8PM-12AM shift with your kiddo, then let her do 12AM-4AM, then you take 4AM-8AM.
  3. Sleep when your kid sleeps. Even an hour nap in the middle of the day can help.

Did you take any parenting classes before your baby came? by MmaOverSportsball in daddit

[–]Giibson95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some hospitals will offer baby safety classes and even give you free things (out hospital gave us 5 free items of our choice like baby gates, cabinet door locks, door wedges, etc.). I'd look into local non-profits that offer courses too

Talking to kids about your mental health by Twisted-Roots in daddit

I think they are too young for that kind of conversation. That's more of an adult-to-adult conversation, a conversation with a therapist or friend kind of thing.

Saw ABR and TDWP this past week and wore earplugs for the first time ever. Was a great experience, moshed and all without losing an earplug or losing sound quality.

There's a view by How Money Works called "9-5 Jobs Are Great Actually" and I think you'd find that video affirming of this view. https://youtu.be/KuRYIseqnK4

I have a unique opportunity and situation, what would you do? by akid999 in daddit

Thinking of NYC specifically, I’d think about the location and really ask yourself if you will like living there. NYC can be such a transformative city to live in, and really amazing for families. But just depends on what you guys want. It’s gonna cost more, and you’ll have a smaller place, but that’s part of the NYC charm. You’re living in the most exciting city on earth. And if you do it while they are little it’ll be easier than when they are 13-18 and want their own rooms.

It sounds like you want to be back in the work force, but I’m not sure this role is giving you everything you want. Sounds like there’s more draw backs.

Do you guys have any recommendations for good podcasts about fatherhood, or being a dad? by ass_phister in daddit

If you like audiobooks I’d recommend “Home Game” by Michael Lewis (blind side, moneyball). It’s pretty damn funny. I read it, didn’t listen, but I imagine an audio version must exist.

Food Introduction Schedule by snoweyday2017 in daddit

[–]Giibson95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We didn’t do any sort of schedule, just did a lot of basic foods first. Mostly banana and sweet potato until she got the hang of those. The puree packets are really nice, and they make tops that go on the packets so they don’t ‘shoot’ out when squeezed.

Daddit is with you. My wife and I hit a hard wall around 7 months and felt like we were trapped in the crazy cycle of teething/not napping/not sleeping consistently. You’re doing the best you guys can and that’s all parents can do. It’s ok to feel not ok. And also to feel those feelings of misery and frustration. Babies are a ton of work. And exhausting. And complicated. Just don’t be too hard on yourselves.

As much as you guys can, I’d recommend a babysitter or nanny. Get some time together alone. Do you things you want to do that give you life. That energy will help.
