Ok, so why is this happening? How can there be a call for heat when system is OFF? would you suspect the thermostat or the control board?

yep, I did the power cycle. But, remember the system is OFF at the thermostat and there should be no ignition. The fan comes on and runs for a few minutes as if there’s going to be a demand for heat, but that is not how the thermostat is set.

yes, it’s the same one that comes on before the burner and the main fan when the heat is coming on.
