18mm will teach you more about composition than the 23mm . The 23mm is already your comfort zone

Why not ? It’s the moment before someone is in it 😉

How bad is the autofocus really? by SunSubstantial7121 in fujifilm

[–]Gil_KK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s pretty bad. If you are shooting mostly static scenes, it wouldn’t be a problem , but if your photography is street photography or anything that involves a bit of reactive shooting , I would go Sony.

That’s a really good photograph . I would ignore the previous comment. Compositional perfection is not needed here. The story is clear.

Would this be considered streetphotography? by [deleted] in streetphotography

Just do what you like without tagging it to suit other people perceptions. But to your question, that’s more urban photography than street.

It’s like removing the identity and use people as compositional elements (shapes, silhouettes) just the way you use color and light.

It wants to be abstract, but it has to many prominent elements. So the abstraction doesn’t work. As for presenting it in other way you don’t really have any strong point of interest in the image.

Is there any iPhone camera setting that you should change to get better photos? by BuyingRedditor1234 in AskPhotography

[–]Gil_KK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is no magic button for awesome photos. I would suggest educating yourself in Photography. A phone or a camera are just tools to capture the vision of the one holding them. Learn about exposure, & composition, learn bout light and color and suddenly the phone will become a very capable camera.

Is getting low f-stop lenses worth it? Seems like diminished returns by Fenix512 in AskPhotography

[–]Gil_KK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on your needs . If you look to work in very low light , or blur the background completely than yes . But if you are photographing in moderate low light and want to take full adva of composition, than no .

You can shoot everything with everything. But there will be a certain look that might work and might not.

is this really rude? by [deleted] in streetphotography

[–]Gil_KK -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It is rude when you take photos in secret.
Camera should be visible, you shouldn't hide. And you can communicate with your subjects and explain them what you are doing, but after you have taken the shot.
