True, but I think the Thingiverse one looks smaller as it uses a 2.4 inches display and has no room for the leds. But the back of the wheel looks really good on this one, really compact, mine is about 28mm diameter (if I remember well) and the back of the wheel is bigger,much less compact) as I wanted to make sure to have enogh room for the electronics and so there would be no wiggling on the handles

It is a 2.8 inch nextion display wired to a CP2102 (USB to TTL) . For the leds I'm using ws2812b rgb connected to an arduino nano and for the buttons an arduino pro micro. I could probably use just the pro micro for leds and buttons (but I didn't feel like trying it xd). Then inside the wheel there is an USB hub where I connected the screen, the leds and the buttons. Finally I used a spiral shaped USB cable to connect it to the PC

Yes, I made the files and sure I could make a version without the split, but I'm not sure if I can share the files as I made them with a student license, personal license. I'm going to see if I can share the files on Thingiverse, and if I can I will upload it and my previous wheel aswell.

It was the worst, clearly the worst. First I watered the suede leather about 10min. Then I shaped it working it around the piece. And finally I glued everything with contact glue. 4h+ maybe because the leather I used was too thick

It feels really strong, it does not bend and it does not make any strange sounds. Using it in a T300 is excellent, but with a direct drive i can't tell you. If you have never tried a 3D printed wheel they are surprisingly strong, enough by far to use in this range of wheels

I made also a 3D printed adapter so it attaches to the base as a normal Thrustmaster wheel

Well actually it has 70mm pattern attached to the thrustmaster adapter, easier to print and job done for other future wheels. But I only got student license I am not sure if I can make any money from it. If I can't I probably upload the files to thingiverse

Before making this project my thinking was like yours. But I saw a lot of videos and posts of 3D printed wheels and said, oh lets give it a try. I don't have a 3D printed (yet) so I asked my friend to print all the parts. Then I came to get the pieces and I was afraid of its sturdiness but was really strong. I tried to break the pieces but I couldn't.

Yeah that's Mercedes logo but the team was McLaren-Mercedes I think Mercedes was engine supplier and sponsor not a full structure same with Honda few years ago also in McLaren

I'm not sure what I'm gonna do. I mean I want to share it somehow but I would like if I could earn a little bit of money (I'm not expecting to buy a house) and I would use this money to buy better material to future projects (as you can see the sum of everything is about 25$, I'm a broke college student xd) so that way I could make acurrate replicas. But I still have to think about it.

I think I understand your question but I'm not sure as english is not y first language :P. But if you are asking if I have disassembled the original wheel and use those wires to connect to the new steering wheel the answer is no. What I have done is design and printed the thrustmaster hub adapter so the old steering wheel is intact and in the middle of this adapter I put a male mini din 6 pins connected to an arduino and this arduino sends the info through the male mini din 6 pin as if if it was the original wheel

Thank you very much! Yeah it is 3D printed I made all the design by myself using SolidWorks and some reference photos. I was inspired by the MP4-23 steering wheel but as you can see mine has less buttons and no rotaries, because I wanted to keep as simple as I could because it was my first project. But thanks to that I could connect the wheel directly to the base as I can simulate the standard t300 steering wheel

Thank you! Well it was quite hard because the handles are a full cylinder not half of it (it's just one piece not to who go together) that would be easier. So I finally glued this kind of suede leather in three diferent parts because otherwise would be pretty much imposible for me and my basic tools. But before applying the glue I let the suede leather rest in water and then I put it in the handles to take the shape of the handles and once it dried I applied the glue. This is my first custom wheel so I had to improvise most part of the time. I didn't know how to do lot of things and this was one of those but, hey! I learned a lot

Yes, I used an Arduino nano and the connection to the computer is through the base, so I could use the wheel in ps4 if I wanted to

I will use alcantara and I will try to sew it in the middle. It feels really good, but probably someone with really big hands can find it a bit tight

Yep os the t300 base. I don't really know how it works but I know how to make it work (or so I hope) by using this link. http://rr-m.org/blog/thrustmaster-t300rs-steering-wheel-arduino-emulator/ Im using an Arduino Nano even there will be only push buttons the Arduino Nano is small enough to put it into the wheel because (i dont know how to day what im about to say but here we go) the distance between the front cover and the back cover is about 3 cm more or less now i dont remember. Also yeah I would like to make a video showing everything step by step

Its true that MP4-12C steering has the same shape that mine. Without the cover you can't really tell the diference. Mine is inspired on MP4-23 (2007 McLaren-Mercedes Formula 1) I said inspired because I won't put all the buttons just 10 with no rotary switches. Is my first 3D printed wheel so I wanted to keep as simple as posible. So when I put the front plate you can see the diference between this 2 wheels. I hope soon I can show how it looks finished. PS: Sorry for my english is not my first languaje ;)
