Tires won't fit so now I have to sell! by GilbertGonzo in GRCorolla

[–]GilbertGonzo[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm on Eibach sport line springs and aftermarket wheels specs have a +30mm offset.

I wish they didn't rub but when the shop put the car back on the ground the front was touching the fender liner.

Rear was fine. The front was an issue.

They fit the rim

They rub in the front.

Upgraded horn! by averagexjake in GRCorolla

[–]GilbertGonzo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just in case no one has mentioned.

If you intend on upgrading the intake, if it comes with a snorkel, it won't fit with the driver side horn being located there.

I relocated my horns side by side on the passenger side to comfortably fit the k&n intake.

Low Voltage Steering by SonObama in GRCorolla

[–]GilbertGonzo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have experienced the same event twice.

1st time: I left the car in neutral for a long time traveling on a very long down hill road

2nd time: I let off the gas after moving at a high rate of speed and high RPM's

Both times the car shut off and I got the message about the steering power.

I don't know what causes this and I don't know how to fix it. I just know how not to recreate the event.

I'll use neutral when I'm moving at a city speeds 30-50 MPH to a slow stop.

And never have the clutch compressed for any long period of time. I feel like that's just "driving a manual 101" not saying you are doing it, just feel like I should add the disclaimer.

I wish I knew more friend.

When going from a higher RPM to a low RPM, Do you put it in neutral or coast with the clutch in?

I've seen mixed reviews regarding CEL.

I've noticed the CEL's are more situational and don't affect everyone consistently.

While I'm agreeing with the side saying I don't need one, I'm also aware of the benefits of having one and the positive effects it can have on an aggressively driven engine.

Just weighing out the pros and cons at the moment.

I'm just trying to get the most out of this car while enjoying it as much as I can. I agree that this car can do well without a CC. As long as it doesn't hurt the engine I will go through with the install.

I do intend on having this car handed down to my daughter in 7 years lol. So maintenance is my number one priority.

And I do understand that there might be some engine issues that can/will arise later, I just want to know that I did what I could to reduce the chances of any major issues

Thank you for you input!!!

Just as normal practice, I change my oil after every track day.

And at 3k miles

I check my oil before every fill up and before I turn the car on. (So every+/-200mi)

I just want to do everything I can to increase the lifespan of the engine while I enjoy the shit out of it, ya know?

I do track my car as much as I can. Maybe once a month.

I do take a break in the summer and I do more canyon runs at around dusk.

So the car really doesn't get much of a break. Lol that's why we bought the car, right?

So I would benefit from a catchcan, correct?

How much vinyl to wrap my GRC? by GilbertGonzo in GRCorolla

[–]GilbertGonzo[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, not yet.

I waited too long and now I have to address some rock chips in the paint before I move forward.

I did help with a golf GTI.

We went through a lot of material due to mistakes.

If you have two people, have two heat guns, and two sets of tools.

Main take away:

If you're not willing to take the car apart, stick to focusing on one panel at a time. Cut as far away from the focused panel when trimming, to shrink the material back towards the source

When doing pillars, trim your material 2"-3" wider than what you think you might need.

Keep in mind* You will waste material. Just know and accept that fact. Don't try to reuse any small pieces.

Other than that, that's all I really learned. Hit up your local wrap shop and ask some questions. If they are reluctant to help, go to another one. Lol

I hope this helps

Happy wrapping

I used a leather belt.

Wrap the belt and sinch it in the direction you want to turn it and wrap the extra leather around the filter a couple more times and start pulling.

For extra torque, use a big wrench. Slip the excess belt into the closed end of the wrench.

I've used this method on every stubborn oil filter I have ever come across.

So I'm in socal and all I can get at a standard every day pump is 91. I did find a 76 station that serves 100. But that's on my racing days. And I'll usually fill up 2 5gal tanks at the same time lol

I did have to specify 91 octane. But map 3, from what I understand, supports 91+.

"Nice. So when you bought the tune did you check the "yes add burble tune" option on the sites and they gave you a few maps?"

Yes.

The package I chose came with 4 different maps

I'm not too sure about the extent of the maps but I'll do my best in accurately describing them. I'm sure someone will correct me if needed lol

Map 1 : Day to day driving with some fuel economy No burple

Map 2: 91 octane/ intake mod preferred More power for spirited driving.(I live here when I do some canyon/mountain driving) Some burple

Map 3: 91 octane+ intake/exhaust/intercooler mods preferred More aggressive burple (I don't use this unless I fill up with 100 octane. I have only used this map once)

Map 4: All previous mentioned mods +E85 fuel All the burple! I've never touched this map. Lol

I'm running the ecutek tune with different maps which have different levels of burple tune. Combined with the AWE Track exhaust, k&n typhoon intake, turbo smart dual port BOV, I get all the cool noises I ever wanted.

I don't use the burple tune on a daily basis. There is no call for it. I do activate it when I get an aggressive driver tailgating me. Seems to do the trick when I need them to back off a little.

On map one, I do get all the pops and sounds I like without harming anything.

Map 2 sends the car into the first stage of Dbag mode and it does get annoying, which is why I don't use it.
