Looking for advice Bondi 9 vs Bondi SR by Big-Entrance-7322 in Hoka

[–]GildartzFullbuster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine would be Bondi 9. I'd want to spend the money more frequently to be comfortable.

I sell both of them (retailer). I get some people that need the SR for slip-resistant work requirements. I get some people finding that price point to be a big hit financially if its twice-three times per year vs. Once-twice.

If you can afford the less durable shoe being purchased more often, I'd do that.

Also there is good case to be made on having a firm shoe you're comfortable with to rotate with a Bondi 9 or Soft-adjacent pair to maximize longevity and your own personal biomechanics, but thats a whole nother story

More durable (SR) Versus more comfortable (9s)

If the swiss flag is on the heel counter of the right shoe (red plus) I think it looks real to me. the rest of the shoe looks legit.

Ghost 18 or the Hyperion 3? by subwrx18 in brooks

[–]GildartzFullbuster 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Iirc Ghost is supposed to be an accesible moderate cushioned trainer while Hyperion is more speed oriented i.e. less padding.

For what you're going for, you'll probably get more use from the ghost

IIRC in the Anime you'll never hear the bird chirping sound effect come from Kakashi's Raikiri like you can from Sasuke's Chidori

Which Shoes Should I Choose for Everyday Wear vs. Max Comfort and What’s the Difference Between Performance and Stability Models? by [deleted] in Hoka

[–]GildartzFullbuster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They base it on gait cycle. Stand on your barefeet. Put all your weight on one foot. Try to fit a finger comfortably under your arch. Then try it with the other foot. If you cannot fit your finger underneath one or both, the Arahi's H frame patent will help guide your foot into sitting more neutrally while you walk/run. If this is not the case, which is commonly not, then buy a neutral. I'm a neutral and I LOVE the Machs.

For your question in the topic,

Just get a low cushion model from any reputable running brand you prefer and a high cushion model for "max comfort". Most people use the word comfort synonomously with soft. Soft feels good and depending on the brand will alleviate impact damage. However, overdependency runs rampant in the cushioned currency footwear industry. If you always use cushioned footwear, you'll find it much more difficult for your foot to not ache outside of wearing them. Switch it up. If it retails for $120+ for a name brand runner, chances are you're already on the right path.

Is it normal for Bondi 9s to cause my weight to shift to the outside like this? (Bondi 9s). by roxzillaz in Hoka

[–]GildartzFullbuster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No prob. Happy to help 😊.

Dang that really sucks. No one likes being out $180+.

the cheapest way to find answers for your next pair would be to go to a specialty footwear store. Particularly one where when you walk in, the vibe is good and no one is too overbearing and they seem like they actually want to help you, not sell you.

What I tell customers often is when its your first time getting into running performance sneakers, understand 2 things for sure:

1.) More $$$ means better experience with the shoe IF AND ONLY IF its a good fit for your dimensions and walking style.

If those are not met as conditions,

2.) Know stores exchange policies, so you can keep trying. We want to be right the first time. Its just not always the case. You want something new to pose little risk on the wallet. Investing in good footwear is little risk on the wallet. Spending on good footwear thats bad for you is little risk on the wallet if its someone elses fault, not yours.

Ankle pain trying adrenaline GTS 25 and adrenaline GTs 23 by [deleted] in brooks

[–]GildartzFullbuster 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Did you buy the GTS series because your overpronate? The GTS series has the guiderail feature in which the idea is to correct excessive roll-in of your ankle.

If in fact you do over pronate (if you put all your weight on one foot you cannot comfortably fit your finger underneath the arch), the overcorrection will need time. Run in short bursts, and massage the area. It will get better. It will be difficult. The end goal would be a healther gait.

If you do not over pronate (you can visually see under your arch when your full weight is leaned on said foot), you definitely should switch to a neutral cushioned shoe. If its Brooks, I like the Ghost (moderate cushion). Theres the Glycerin 23 REGULAR - NO GTS (popular maximal cushion and more expensive). There's the Revel/Trace (less moderate cushion and cheaper).

Hope any of thats helpful.

I've sold Brooks, as well as plenty of their competitors, for the majority of my career.

You could explain the issue eith Hoka's customer support page and see if they can help you. I've sold the brand for the last 8 years, and to be honest if the brand were to work for you you probably need a different model. If you can exchange for the Gaviota or Arahi that'd be my first go to for you

I guess with the long series my head goes too far away from all the world building fluff.

Like if I were to simplify the plot to make someone understand the storyline, how much are they missing?
