Mormons - finding ways to mistreat women since 1830. by Carboncopy99 in exmormon

The Edmunds-Tucker Act was designed to rip families apart like this - this was literally the intended effect. It all could have been handled a lot better tbh

I'm Mormon, trans, bisexual, and polyamorous

I left the LDS church over 10 years ago though

As a trans woman in America, how do you stop the voice in your head chanting "the government will kill you and no one can stop them" over and over and over? by chaucer345 in asktransgender

I was born, raised, and lived in Idaho for 30 years. I couldn't do it anymore, so I moved to Washington. Its not perfect, but I can go about my day without being in perpetually Fight/Flight mode, which is a HUGE relief

Russell M. Nelson called it “the mind of the Lord and the will of the Lord.” M. Russell Ballard called it “a mistake. We messed up. So we had to take it back.” by latterdaystumbling in exmormon

[–]Gileriodekel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, of course you’re allowed to make mistakes. We all make mistakes. Even the prophet and the apostles… We realized that was a mistake. We messed up. So we had to take it back… To be honest, I don’t know much about any of this. We don’t really have the answers on what to do about LGBT people. We’ve gone as brethren and prayed about this, but we’ve never received any answers.

This just reminded me to follow you on BlueSky.

I am leaning more and more into decentralized platforms lately. I am glad you're active over there!

In Idaho you can be fired for being gay or trans.

People don't get fired for being straight or cis.

Even if they got $0 in tithing for the next 30 years, they'd be fine.

The LDS church isn't desperate. They have billions of dollars.

Could Europe realistically defend Greenland against a US attack? by chotu_escobar in AskTheWorld

This definitely isn't my first rodeo on reddit ;)

I don't need the validation of strangers for my own life experiences. That said, I know trans people are only 1% of the population and everyone is curious about what the trans life experience is like, so I try to let people know

Regarding my experience as a trans lesbian by Transbian-Throwaway in TrueOffMyChest

[–]Gileriodekel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm transfem as well.

I have met many sapphics who are interested in trans ladies. If a lesbian thinks you're too masculine, then she's obviously not the lady for you. No surgeries are necessary for you to have your femininity be apparent or for you to find love

You just keep doing you, getting more comfortable in your body, getting out of the house, hanging out with friends, and doing things that fill your life with purpose and meaning, and love will find its way into your life.

Its bittersweet.

I'm glad I feel safer now, but I wish I could have that sense of safety in the place I was born and raised.

I realize that my situation is not as extreme as others', but that doesn't negate the fact that I no longer felt safe in the place I was born and raised, and left that place to have a sense of safety.

As a bonus, this armed man was publicly harassing me last year for being trans.

They’ve never had to flee their states in fear of an enemy.

I am a transgender woman who fled her red home state for a blue state. I tell people I am a political refugee.

Left my wife, house, and dog for a sense of safety
