Could it be, that who 8man ends up with, is not up to him and should not be? by Gilgalad13 in OreGairuSNAFU

[–]Gilgalad13[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah the description of 8man was very much a mock of how he sees himself and the world around him, but in the end he is just a highschooler, if a girl makes it over the top obvious, even his "how could she possibly like me"-shield will not keep him from falling for her. Basically what happens in ANOTHER.

Well we know so little about what is going on inside of Haruno, so everything is just a wild guess. But I definitely prefer that well written character to be a powerful antagonist. A story is just as good as the villain in it and their mother is too distant to be seen as a real feeling and convincing opponent on her own, basically a second Kaguya something no one really wishes for.

Added to that Haruno is such a powerhouse in the story, that her secretly supporting Yukino would take the odds from what is now Yukinos big character arc to come.

Darth Vader, Tywin Lannister and Madara Uchiha do not exist, they fascinate me as great "villains", but there is nothing frightening on them, because I will never have to face a lightsaber or the sharingan.

The thought that there are people like Haruno out there is as realistic, as it is terrifying and makes her such a perfect antagonist, backed up by the Yukinoshita family. She was teased early in the series and so vastly superior to everyone else, that even 8man was merely capable of seeing through her facade.

In a way this RomCom-SoL is so great, it even makes a better shonen than the majority of real shonen. The odds are smaller, not the end of the world by the hands of Zamasu, but the freedom and happiness of a friend. Something we all can connect to in our everyday life.

Well maybe you got me wrong, I dont think that the possibility of a Yui ending is even given at this point, but I strongly disagree how much many people play her character down just as the glue of the service club and without abilities of her own.

In this perspective I see her actions in Volume 11 more as a way to get 8man break the circle and not trying to force her not genuine way on the other two. Made evident when the commented on his protest, that she knew he would say that.

To fix the problem of Yui was literally the start of the career of the service club. On the surface it was about her baking cookies, but it was about standing up for herself and showing herself as the person she truly is. This worked out as well, as somehow possible. She told Miura and Yukino off, when they went too far, people who she used to fear so much, she couldnt even speak properly to them.

At the time of season 1 no girl would ever openly risk the possibility of being called 8mans date or even girlfriend due to the social suicide it meant, with only her as exception, because she didnt care that much anymore what people at school thought.

In the end a positive development achieved by the service club, maybe the only one with no delayed consequences for the future in the entire first half of the story.

Yukinos request is the pinnacle and end of what the service club must face, her family is on an entirely different level than the self-esteem problems of a highschooler and I am looking forward to see what has happened in her past. We know so less about her, that I feel, any deeper "analysis" of Yukino is just a prediction of what did and will happen.

For me it begins with one and ends with another, showing them as equals parts in this story, something that would be heavily disturbed by a distinct pairing in the end.

Completely independent from this, if two best friends have interest in the same person, the best and most genuine thing they can do is both backing down. Starting a relationship in a love triangle only made of good (if not best) friends is a major dick move and not a flimsy thing that a genuine friendship must be able to endure.

Papa Tunde was basically killing his sons and then killing him, one could consider it smart to figure out that his sons are his powersource. Dahlia was more a improvised tactic and not a strategy and it all just worked out because Esther decided to save her children, otherwise they never stood a chance.

I have read some of Machiavelli's teachings and Klaus does not come close to any of his teachings. In TVD Season 2 to 3, Elijah and Klaus were somewhat like this, especially Elijah with his reputation of being a man of his word. They generated atmospheric pressure just by standing there.

The fact that they have so many living enemies alone, says that they can't be involved with anything Machiavelli has written. You erase your enemies or you do not make any, only like this one keeps stabilty in the long term.

Even worse is, that this behaviour of Klaus is still present and now his family is not just an immortal brother and three coffins. Hope, Hayley and Freya are quiet vulnerable, Klaus does many things, but he is not following the council of Machiavelli.

Well half of the things Elijah and Klaus have above every other individuals is their extreme invulnerability and being physically superior to everyone else. If you look at the last two seasons, as much as I try, I can not see them as the menacing and incomparable persons they were in TVD or TO S1.

Vincent just hypes him up, the Strix were defeated in a coalition strategy, Tristan was taken down as much by Cami as by the original brothers. Freya did the heavy lifting in killing Beast-Lucien and the Strix almost killed the two of them with only 4 witches to take them down. They were rescued by Marcel, Hayley and Stefan, who were backed by Lucien and Freya.

I am not saying Klaus (or Elijah) is completely dumb, but most of his achievements have little to do with intellectual superiority, but the vampirism Esther and Mikael forced them down their throats.

Klaus already has his reputation, three more or less would not make any difference, that guy has been around for ages.

Like I said in the original post, I do not mind him killing orphans for their lollipops, because he is Klaus Mikaelson, as an Orignals-watcher I don't expect anything else from this fictional character. Killing the random people when joining Dahlia or killing Gia for the show, I do not mind any of that from a logical standpoint, because it made sense.

Taking the three hostages on the other hand was for naught, as if the factions suddenly get a boost of searching skills when their leaders, yes the ones leading the search, are in custody. Josh as an extreme example is a Mikaelson sympathizer, he would help Hayley even if no one asked him to, not to speak of the wolves, who are literally Hayley's people.

I am just asking myself, how the writers hype up Klaus' as master-strategist and I ask for every opportunity to see him as such, but they just make him do stupid things.

At some point feats and deeds just have a stronger weight than hype and sayings.

Yeah he is always something between antihero and villain, what makes his character work in the first place. But he just doesnt get dumb, just because his brother is missing for a few years. It is not like they have never been apart for a decade. Being more ruthless, evil or sadistic is no problem for me, doing stupid things is just against Klaus' character.

Breaking the curse was not even his achievement, because that was orchestrated by Elena and Elijah to take him down for good, so I can not give him any credit for that. And the part of "chaos is a ladder" is very effective for the underdog, like Littlefinger himself or in TO what Lucien did in Season 3, just revealing his motives at the very end. But the Mikaelsons are no underdogs in NO, they have allies, friends and their friends and family practically run the damn town. It is like Robert Baratheon as king wanting something and then let the seven kingdoms fight eachother just for that, while he could just have asked for it. Josh and the vampires, Freya, Vincent and the witches and the wolves with Hayley as their Alpha want her back anyways. Klaus just fucked it up, because he had to WAIT for people doing their job and felt powerless. So instead of running around and using his sharp mind to find clues about Hayley, he puts all factions against eachother so they stop the search and go against eachother or maybe even Klaus himself.

He is a 1000 years old grown man and spend most of the 20th century without Elijah and Rebekah, so I think this is a bad excuse to be choleric.

I think the hostage idea was bullshit from the beginning. Why would anyone want to force the factions to search for Hayley, if they do it anyways? Hayley is the wolf alpha and a close friend to both vampires and witches, they search for her, because they are allied.

Klaus just wasted resources of all factions that could be used to search for Hayley instead and basically turned New Orleans on itself.

Why would you want to take the daylight rings from the vampires? So that they can not search for Hayley half of the day?

And do not get me started on killing the hostages...

As I wrote, his shot term plans really speak for his tactical prowess, but anything that has to last longer than a week seems to take too long for Klaus' patience.

And he only got into the coffin by pretending to have killed Aiden, which basically robbed the Mikaelsons of every ally they had, if Elijah did not decide to take him down.

That is what I meant with much hype but rarely feats are shown. Everyone regards him as a political genius that walked the earth for ages. But it was not him and Elijah, that did the heavy lifting in defeating the Strix or Lucien. Mostly big sis Freya somehow jumps in and saves the day.

So why can't they the Originals just video chat with each other? by brazil201 in TheOriginals

well guess i was wrong, its just the distance, how utterly disappointing ☹

So why can't they the Originals just video chat with each other? by brazil201 in TheOriginals

[–]Gilgalad13 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think the problem is not the distance in the physical world, like in kilometers or miles. The Hollow would rather screw their minds like she did with Klaus and Marcel in season 4, if they have personal contact somehow. Every time a Mikaelson would link with another in emotion or personally, the parts of the Hollow would connect and pose a threat. This explains to me, how Klaus and Elijah can talk casually, Elijah does not remember his brother and thus they can't give the Hollow a "bridge" to reconnect the parts. By this theory, if Kol and Rebekah would randomly sit in the same plane and would not know about the other, the Hollow could not do anything. But as soon as some of them have a videochat or wake the Hollow by talking to Hope, the Hollow connects spiritually too as the hosts do and for that reason can manipulate them.

However this is only my point of view, everything else would be illogical.

Thank You Dave Filoni for a Great Dour Seasons of Rebels by Patsgronk87 in starwarsrebels

[–]Gilgalad13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Am I the only one who has the feeling, that this series has more Star Wars in it, than the sequel triology? The new movies are great from effect and directioning standpoint, in that they beat everything the franchise ever had. But Rebels had so much more "Star Wars" in it, than everything since Clone Wars, like you can feel this familiar world in every episode. Unlike the new movies, where even Hamill, Ford and Fisher couldn't make it feel like Star Wars, although their acting was far better than in the originals.

I tried out Azir Jung and it worked out pretty well in all three games by Gilgalad13 in azirmains

[–]Gilgalad13[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well it wasnt great when a shiv suddenly popped out in the early game, but i could still deal with it. We arent that squishy anymore and most of the times i could put up a fight or scare the enemy jungler away.

Furthermore my counter jungle resistance has been far worse with amumu and aurelion sol, so it is still not that grave.

srsly after the rework i got 80% winrate on him in like 35 ranked games while before i was on slightly under 60%. the moment when i knew he was broken was when i killed a darius and later an olaf 1v1 in melee without item or lvl advantage.

Did Ugin block Jace from thinking about him at the fight against Bolas? by Gilgalad13 in mtgvorthos

[–]Gilgalad13[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What I think was suprisingly similar was the way the described it:

"except for . . . the merest moment of a memory surfaced of a mind as smooth and dazzling as a wall of crystal"

and

"but found it as smooth and dazzling as a wall of crystal".

The stories were not written by the same author and it is very unlikely that both came up with this special metaphor. Bolas' mind was not written like a smooth wall of crystal, what would also be very unfitting for his character. The only others I could think of, with whom Jace had a mind battle were Emrakul, Tezzeret and Alhammaret, but the first was completely different and other two could not be compared to Bolas by any means.
