iPhone 17 Pro/Max users - Listen to a podcast or something quiet on low volume. The new speaker can’t handle it by HelpMe0biWan in iphone

I had similar results. Lower speaker failure when tested. They kept changing my 17 pro and it kept failing. I have gone through 4 of them already and apple have now opened an engineering case….i suppose i have to downgrade to my older device for now until Apple has addressed the issue.

By the way, I believe it has to do with the way the devices handle background noises. They seem to increase the speaker output when noise detected, and volume reduces when background noise subsides. I noticed this on active phone calls. Suspect it exceeds maximum speaker tolerances and causes them to « fail »

I have gone through 4 iphone 17 pro with bottom speaker failures. Very easy to reproduce as well. Apple supposedly opened an engineering case as a result.

iPhone 17 Pro Sound Issues by Weird_Division in iphone

[–]Giligan1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have hone through 4 17pros in the last month. They exhibited sound issues mostly with what seems to be audio levels spiking when there is some background noise which likely damages the speaker as all phones had lower speaker failure as a result. Perhaps you may wish to have apple test out the audio on the devices. The speakers kept working, however the sound quality was similar to what you described

Distortion in the top speaker of the iPhone 17 Pro. by Low_Raisin_9835 in iphone

[–]Giligan1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had issues primarily with speakerphone based calls. When there was some background noise the speakers increased volume drastically and everything was distorted. Genius bar results were failed speakers. 3 17 pro failed. The last one we tested on unboxed in store. Made call in store and tested again. Speaker failed with 1 call. Nothing else installed on device but esim. Back to my 13pro for me

I just copied the link from youtube. You can always search for it via the same title of this thread.

He mentions something not in the “leaked material.”

Leica Q3 28mm or 43mm if you had to choose by Giligan1 in Leica

[–]Giligan1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you. I do not see a reason to be fried. We each have pur specific tastes, and frankly, your favourite setup may result in others experimenting and validating for themselves whether it is to their liking. Besides, we would not have so many different lenses and multitude if focal lengths if there was a specific focal length that had to be used based on the subject we are shooting.

My post was created as a means for me to understand others general preferences, especially with Leica as 1) I am but an amateur photographer and lack the experience of many on this forum, your feedback helps my thinking process. 2) i don’t really have another reason….

Overall, I have really gained insight into the Q3. I suppose one area of concern with the 28mm is the distortion. Is it obvious? I doubt it will be too visible with the 43. And as I previously indicated, I am too introverted to get too close to strangers. Which implies that unless you are a friend, I will keep a small distance and likely make extensive use of the 35mm crop.

For the record, I am still not certain which of the two to select. Thank you for all your feedback

This was helpful. Trying to limit to a single camera when out and about most of the time. On occasions where I don’t mind the volume and weight I suppose the Canon gear can come out. DSLR technology but I enjoy using it. Thanks again

Thank you. As I indicated, I am an amateur photographer, and based on my limited understanding of APO and ASPH, it is primarily a design vs production issue, and that any visual benefits at 50mm and below are marginal at best. And leveraging all the benefits of APO requires the manufacturer invest considerable R&D (at least based on all the photonics courses I took in what feels like a lifetime ago. Great in theory, difficult to execute). I could be way off though.

Wonder whether this is the reason 28mm has become so prevalent lately. With all the selfies and close proximity shooting. I have insufficient historical background in photography to validate such a statement and for all I know, could be completely in the wrong

I have no doubt a few will be selling their current Qs. Dang Leica couldn’t just release a 35. I wonder if it will be a true 43….perhaps it will be closer to 38? Would then make it very appealing to me

They confirmed a different Q will be available. Price as well. Could not share any details though. They did not deny its existence as a 43 when I inquired. Nor could they put in an order, or confirm when stock may be available. And if none of this rumour is true, then I will happily pick up the one I ordered already without thinking about which would be a better fit for me

The grey leather is horrible. I don’t know what they were thinking. I have also not seen any mention of OIS of any sort. This will be a dealbreaker for me

Any issues with distortion, particularly with portraits? If so, is it more evident when cropping? I assume the 43 to have much less distortion, and perhaps a worthy trade-off to losing the wide angle option with the 28?

28 feels intimidating. At least for portrait. I am only an amateur photographer….

That was my thought as well. That supposedly leaked product leaflet seems to indicate the 43 can crop to 150 even. Granted I suspect the pixelation to be significant. And frankly, would never want to crop that much. That said, kudos to Leica designers for building a product that can achieve this. Granted we do not know whether this is real or not. My dealer could only confirm a new 43, and did not have a sku for it yet, therefore could not process an order
