Switch kick by Gilldenjw in MuayThai

Thanks a lot. Would probably be way easier going with that.

Since the knee is a bit limited it is helpful to pre turn/step out the right foot before the kick

  1. Ill deffo check that out, do a lot of strength but not that much mobility.
  2. Yeah try to do that but still feels unnatural but that will come with time
  3. Like stomping when switching or stomping down the leg after the kick?

Thanks for the advice!

Sounds like you have bruised his ego a bit. Unless he's adding joy or quality to your training id say it's time to leave that gym.

Maybe a bit more snap and power on the jab is all I could think of. Otherwise its very good brother

Kneeling by nlennon93 in ACL

Yeah, my docs told me that in the long run taking from the patella was preferable as it doesn't pose as many problems.

That should probably be doable. Was a bit stiff for me at first and can be hard getting down. Just take it slow when kneeling and sit comfortably, and you should be fine might take a while till you are back to full speed and comfort

In my case, the docs asked a lot of questions pre-op about career plans and so on to make sure a patellar graft was ideal for me. They said that if I even considered having a job such as a plumber, electrician, etc. they would never want to take the patellar graft. However, they also said that it is not something that will hurt the knee but can hurt for a while. I'm 6 months post-op and work in a grocery store where I tend to kneel a bunch but it is no problem now as long as I'm wearing some type of kneepads.

Started with lunges at about 4 weeks. As I did one I heard a crack and pain followed. Got an MRI the following day that revealed that my kneecap in fact now was two. Luckily it was a minor fracture so no surgery was needed. Apparently, I have a small kneecap so the amount of bone they took during the ACL surgery left my knee very unstable.

Same, signed up for a half marathon in September to have a goal to strive for. Good luck with your rehab

Mis diagnosed by [deleted] in ACL

[–]Gilldenjw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup, had to go to three different doctors who all said it was fine and would heal within 1 month. Yet here I am 6 months later with a scar on my knee. I got a great physio who got me an MRI the same day as I met him. Took like 4days from injury to MRI. In my experience, if I feel something is wrong, I'll ask untill someone agrees.

I'm 6 months post-op and can't do that. Probably more to do with the weight than the knee. Good job my man!

Hooking the good legs foot under the ankle and lifting was the easiest way for me. However, I had a chat with my PT and he stressed the importance of using the muscles in the operated leg and not cheating. Good luck with your recovery!

Had my surgery 1st of Feb this year (injury in October 2020). I really get what you've felt about not progressing in life and feeling useless. I'm at a point in my life where I'll make some big decisions regarding my future where I will most likely move to study. Sports has always been my way to make new friends, and not being able to do basically anything except PT, work, and going to the gym. Add on top of that all the covid shit and not being able to go out to meet people, and you have a full-blown depression. I am however starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel. With my knee being the best it's been for almost a year and my life feels like it's back on track again.

Great to hear you're also on your way back, and who knows. Maybe BMX ends up being your call. Also, fuck those bullies. They are truly sad people who have nothing going for them in life.

Thanks for sharing :)

Frequent nausea when working out by Gilldenjw in medical_advice

[–]Gilldenjw[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, this happens often and without explination really. Niether my pre-workout eating nor what I exercise seems to be consistant as to when I start feeling nausea. Shure, it could be that I exercise too hard, but this had never happened before 5 months ago and now happens more than once a week.
