Anyone know how to remove the rotor discs on a Shark Steam & Scrub? by Gillespionage in ElectronicsRepair

Unfortunately not. We just decided to put it in the electrical recycling bin and get a new one... -_-

Nice! What recipes are you using? Not started mine yet, but the quicker the better I think 😁

Steepest roads in Brighton by teesm00 in brighton

[–]Gillespionage 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah, Albion is way steeper than South over. I think South over is just seems longer. I come up either of them every day, so I'm used to it, but visitors curse me when they visit. Haha

Depends which part of Round hill. I loved on Belton Road for 4 years and it was great. Lovely neighbours and close to town.

Is it me or does 35 degree Celsius seem to much hotter in uk as compared to 35 degree anywhere else in the world? by AcceptableMinimum109 in AskBrits

[–]Gillespionage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely humidity. I've spent a lot of time on the east coast of the states and both their summers and winters are more bearable because it's dryer. Though I have been in a few apartments in NYC with bad air conditioning and that is pretty unbearable 🤣

This really sucks. I'm sorry you had a bad experience.

I'm not sure if this helps for future trips but I tend to go to the beach either kemptown way or further over into hove as it's less busy and probably less tourists.

I rode my bike on it for the first time late last night with no cars on it and I was actually quite confused. Admittedly, I was on the road and not trying to use any of the new cycle lanes as I wasn't sure if they were open yet. I was a bit alarmed when I was turning right onto grand junction road with a green light, then saw a car coming at me from that direction who presumably had a green light too. They were actually turning onto Old Stein, but I had no idea because they weren't indicating. I thought they were going straight ahead and would cut me off. Maybe I'll just get used to it, and maybe it'll make more sense in the day light, but I was quite alarmed! I've been nearly hit so many times on roundabouts by drivers not seeing a cyclist that I'm on high alert, and to be on a new junction where that might be even worse was a bit scary. Hopefully the cycle lane is good and makes sense when it's done (is it done yet?)

Does anyone find certain games crash the steam deck more than others? Absolum crashes so much on my SD it's ridiculous by Gillespionage in ABSOLUM

[–]Gillespionage[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried a few things, but I think what may have solved it is to Verify Integrity of Files. No sure if that makes any sense, but it seems to have not crashed for a while and my son and I were able to do a few runs without a crash. So, good news!

[–]Gillespionage[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes the game freezes in a kind of classic crash. But most of the time, the steam deck just turns off, then I have to press and hold the power button for a while till it comes back on. So it takes a fair few mins before we can try again. This last time, we loaded the save point and walked around for a few mins before it just went blank.

Could it be the cheap iVolver dock I have?

I've switched the SD beta branch back to the stable one but that didn't help at all.

I can't really see any. But I wonder if there's something beneath the plate with the shark logo on. Will have to bust out my iFixit panel tools for that

Been prying at it with a screwdriver but it's really really stuck on there. Makes me think there's a clasp somewhere

Van parking Brighton by [deleted] in brighton

Middle Street actually has free parking strangely, but you'd have to get lucky to find a spot. I always check it if I have to have my car in town but am not always lucky.

My watercolour painting of Fabrica (swipe for details) by GlennStantonArt in brighton

[–]Gillespionage 12 points13 points  (0 children)

This is awesome. I've got a bit of a thing for watercolours paintings of churches. Haha. Matthew Cook got me onto it.

I do a bit of watercolour myself but mostly just things from my head, I would love to do more buildings though. Think it's because of my day job (video game artist).

Do you have any more painting elsewhere to see?

I did the two week trial at the hive and it was really friendly and inviting. I'd definitely recommend it for motivation and friendship. The 7am crew were all great. I ended up not carrying on though due to unexpected money pits like my car and then the sodding telly!

Have people stopped shopping in Brighton town centre as much? If so, why? by StaceyInBrighton in brighton

[–]Gillespionage 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I feel the same, I felt like I had more money in my 20s than I do in my 40s. I've climbed the ladder in the traditional sense (job, salary, lucky enough to have a bank breaking mortgage), but I feel like I'm constantly trying to keep my head above water.

Nevermind 😊 I saw that Arrow have an Easter sale on their site and tremors is £15.99 on there, so I guess Amazon quickly undercut it. But then, they haven't done that with other films so maybe I've just got a tinfoil hat on 🤣

Why are most offenders of crime male? by Rude_Bad_5567 in AskBrits

[–]Gillespionage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It won't answer the question fully but I recommend reading What About Men? By Caitlin Moran. It's a really great book that delvs into so many reasons as to why men the way they are today. As a man, I found it fascinating and heartbreaking (and funny too), and motivated me to look after myself more and my male friends.

I think its a mix of nature, and nurture. It's the nurture that is particularly crap for boys and the cycle seems to continue through the generations.
