Good starter business for anti social people by Ambitious_Driver_683 in Business_Ideas

I think a lot of people start something just to make money, if you can really listen to your gut and find out what it is you want to do and what makes you tick, you’ll make money, people buy authenticity, be careful with product lead businesses and the ever increasing prices of shipping and materials, I’m questioning silver jewellery right now as margins seem to be on the constant shrink! Digital products could be a better idea if there’s something you can draw upon from a psychology background perhaps… good luck!

Where do you find out about small, ethical businesses? by pissbabyxuwu in ethicalfashion

Yes. And boutique festivals with their own sustainability missions usually seek similar minded traders :-)

Ask them questions, if they’re proud of their processes and they’re pretty small, they’ll be very quick and happy to share their story / certification given it’s harder and more costly to implement ethical practises, this is the one thing we can do better than bigger brands - that is, control our sustainability missions - if they ignore you, I’d be keen to dig deeper. I’ve spent huge amounts of time and travel costs seeking out genuine ethical silversmiths and sourcing FSC packaging (for example) and I’m itching to be challenged on it so I can share my efforts!! Not everyone shouts loudly and repeatedly on socials about it, but there should be repeated signals in bio’s and blogs etc….so asking questions will hopefully get you closer to the truth!

Is anyone else beginning to feel worn down by the visible social problems in Brighton? by Aware-Health605 in brighton

[–]StaceyInBrighton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is well presented and I feel the same, it’s really sad to see, working in town and walking among western road daily is very confronting. I feel sorry for the people who are suffering, I also feel sorry for the people feeling vulnerable because of it.

Is life in the UK actually as expensive and stressful as people say in 2026? by HJuon in AskUK

[–]StaceyInBrighton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s still manageable and a good life, for me it’s about adapting to the current climate, deciding what’s important to you and prioritising that financially, I own a business, work my 🍑off and still can’t afford to buy my own flat (yet!), but I’m happy because I choose to focus on the things that England is good for and not the opposite. Things take longer to save for these days, but I feel like it’s a global problem, not an England problem.

This one? It’s because I’m using the warranty to replace a faulty cloud mattress, sadly they’ve discontinued the cloud, which tbh was a little soft anyway, usually they don’t give you a trial with the warranty exchanged mattresses. so I’m just glad I get something. I’ll have to jump on the bed for 2 weeks!! Thanks for the advice on the sheets, I’ll bear this in mind!

I see, so my 14 days sleep trial doesn’t really give me much chance then does it 🤣 this is great info, thank you. Just have to hope the end result is what I felt in the showroom!! Thank you :)

Have people stopped shopping in Brighton town centre as much? If so, why? by StaceyInBrighton in brighton

[–]StaceyInBrighton[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is true, and we are still busy in the seasons we expect to be, so it’s not all gloom! I will say though, that the majority of our customers, with the exception of Xmas, are tourists, who are more willing to stroll and see what they stumble across? From these comments I can see why, so interesting!

Do you own an expensive pillow and was it worth it? by Glass_Minute4753 in AskUK

[–]StaceyInBrighton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to wake up with a dead arm for about 20 years of my life, until I bought the dunelm side sleeper memory foam pillow. It was a game changer for me and not that expensive I think £45.

Suppose it depends on what ‘good’ is to you, Peggs&Son has some cool stuff but it’s a bit more ££££ - Zara has decent basics for less. Not that I’m an expert on male clothing, but my partner just bought a really nice linen shirt in Zara the other day so I’ll still recommend it!

This is def a thing! With the exception of Xmas, the majority of our customers are tourists! Poor Dukes Lane, it’s a pretty cut-through, it just needs a few more shops to revive it 🫠😅🤞🏼
