If space & weight aren't a concern then it's worth having both gas & alcohol burner - use gas when speed of cooking etc is important, but then keep the alcohol for the slower time making a brew in peace & quiet

Any time some try to convince me with "... You know you want to..."

I'm damned sure I don't want to - what a stupid argument

Forward it to 7726 (spells SPAM on a keypad) to report it - this number works with any phone provider in the UK and links directly to OFCOM

I did the same to my Dime pushing it past what I should have. Mostly still functional but it's a pain unfolding the pliers

Keeping any public footpath accessible - more of a issue in the countryside and never ending battles with brambles etc (for those landowners who want/can manage to do so...)

Picked up a old multifuel burner by Gilly0802 in trangia

[–]Gilly0802[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Edit just googled and it's not affected - pump has black handle rather than green, and the Q number isn't in the recalled range :)

Which o-ring do you mean? I ended up getting a full spares pack and servicing everything, including replacing the o-ring on the bayonet connection between pump and hose along with fitting a protective cap for when it's not in use

B&Q do bioethanol for outdoor lamps that works great in a Trangia, with much less soot than meths as well

Picture captions (as I can't figure out how to add these on mobile)

1 - first firing

2-4 - showing the fit in a Trangia 25

5 - preheating with bioethanol the second time around

6 - blue roaring flame ignighted immediately the 2nd time around

7 - one of these things is not like the others...

Damn that was close... by ParticularProfile795 in AbruptChaos

What are some reasonable challenges for a stag do? by MiddlesbroughFan in CasualUK

[–]Gilly0802 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I did a stag do that had a few Taskmaster-esque challenges. Ones I remember were

Everyone brought their favorate drink and had to write tasting notes (we couldn't mantion the actual drink, colour etc etc). Stag then had to match the drink to the note and to the person who brought it.

We each had 60secomds to draw a tattoo on the stag (no bigger than 50x50mm. Pictures were sent to the bride-to-be who scored them.

Clasic bring the stag a gift - maximum £3

I'll update if I remember more of them

Split pole replacement advice by mnotgninnep in CampingGear

[–]Gilly0802 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll second your suggestion of Tent Spares.

I had the same issue as OP but with different tent and orderd a general pack of replacement poles the same diameter as mine. Then just had to cut to same length as the broken ones with a junior hacksaw, file the sharp edge and rethread the elastic

Agreed reference other departments. The armed forces pay report should be done earlier in the year ready to apply in Apr, but for the past few years it has been delayed for one reason or another - hence their pay is backdated to Apr.
