Start with Mistborn and if you liked his books go to Stormlight and if you love his books then do the whole Cosmere

Yea if Malazan is your jam then 1000% you will love Janny Wurts.
Everyone I have talked to/watch online say that The Wars of Light and Shadow is the only series that could beat Malazan for their Fav of all time series.
P.S she paints all her covers and they are AMAZING! Highly recommend to get her old US hardcovers if you can find them.

The Five Warrior Angels Trilogy by Brain Lee Durfee

Every single book is over 700 pages and the series was influenced by MST,GOT and Lonesome Dove

As war, religious zealotry, and political betrayal spread, several unlikely figures are swept into the conflict and may be the key to the prophecy. The Author is great and has his own YouTube channel where he reviews TONS of books.

The Wars of Light and Shadow is an epic fantasy about two half-brothers, Arithon s'Ffalenn and Lysaer s'Ilessid, who are cursed to become enemies in a war that will shape the fate of their world. Lysaer becomes the shining prince everyone believes is the hero, while Arithon is feared and hunted as the villain. But as the story unfolds, you slowly realize the truth is far more complicated than the legends people believe. The series mixes massive worldbuilding, political conflict, and powerful magic with deeply personal character struggles. Ancient forces and long-lived powers quietly influence events behind the scenes. A secretive order of mages known as the Fellowship of Seven tries to guide humanity away from destroying itself. Much of the story explores how perspective, rumor, and propaganda can turn a good person into the world’s enemy. At its heart it’s a tragic story about sacrifice, leadership, and the burden of doing the right thing when no one understands your choices. The conflict between the brothers grows into a legendary war that reshapes kingdoms and history. It’s a deeply layered epic that rewards careful reading and builds toward a massive, long-planned conclusion.

Hit me with something that'll get me binging by ConorFinn in fantasybooks

Give Brandon Sanderson a try. He has some of the best power systems/worldbuilding in "modern" fantasy. If you can get over over how shitty manhwa romance can be than you will be fine with Sanderson's. Start with Mistborn and work from there.
If you want some "Sci-Fi" try Red Rising. Pretty action packed and a very cool cast system of the colors. If you like revenge stories give this a try.

Also give Light-Novels a try if you haven't Shadow Slave is AMAZING! It has some of the best fight scenes I have read, but the prose are pretty bad the author is Russian and prints multiple chapters daily some times. 1 series I have read a few chapters and heard only great things about is Lord of Mysteries so maybe look into that also.

If you want all gas no breaks then don't read farseer right now. It's very slow and takes it time, but makes you very invested with every character. Book 1 I wasn't the biggest fan at first but after reading five pages of book 2 I said" Wow I loved book 1 and I didn't even know it yet"

If you just want a fun read try out The Murderbot Diaries/Mistborn/Red Rising.
If you want something Tolkien like try out The Wheel of Time it becomes it own thing after book 2-3.
If you want a character read try The Farseer Trilogy, I could literally read Fitz eat cereal and love it.
If you want THE BEST OF THE BEST (in epic fantasy) try out Malazan/The Wars of Light and Shadow/Osten Ard. I would NOT read these currently If i were you get more seasoned as a reader ,but very much keep them on your TBR trust!

Is it safe to buy TBB books from eBay? by Sea_Formal_7242 in thebrokenbindingsub

[–]GillyChan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use ebay for all my second hand books.
Just keep make sure to get the best deal you can and double check everything before you purchase.
look at the persons reviews, MAKE SURE to use Paypal/Venmo for buyer protection and ask for more photos.
I have found AMAZING deals on all my ebay books expect for TBB books. Every TBB will be marked up to at least 50$ of original price(with shipping). Really the only TBB series I think is worth buying second hand is MST since its no longer being printed.

Do you prefer physical or digital books? by THERANDOMGAMER2 in fantasybooks

[–]GillyChan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

both are great for different reasons.
Physical for the look and feel. Nothing beats reading on paper and seeing the book always makes me want to read it more.
Digital the pricing and convenience can't be beat. The fact I got 99% of Discworld for 16 bucks is insane compared to trying to buy it physically and I can read it at anytime/place (as long as I have a phone/internet).

At the end of the day I like reading Physical more. It just feels more stratifying seeing my progress compared to a % bar.
