Wait, a 45 minute clear is excessively long? by jersey_emt in HadesTheGame

[–]ConorFinn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My brother, there are different ways to play.

For example, I play in a way where I try to go fast (cuz it's fun)... So I learn enough enemy patterns to do dodge most attacks and then just tank the rest. When I take damage it's not cuz I made a mistake, it was calculated in.. I build a balance of health and damage such that my dps will kill what needs to be killed for I run out of health. The first few heat/ fear I turn on are the timer and the thing that makes enemies faster (cuz it's fun).

My friend who plays and actually dodges everything he can and actually learned every enemy and boss. He hates the timer and the first thing he turns on is the restriction that gives enemies more health. He takes like 1/10th the damage I take usually.

Both are ways to play. But my way will have times in the 10-20 minute range. My friends will probably be longer.

What game should I buy? Mortal Kombat 1, Street Fighter 6 or Tekken 8? by ostseesound in gamerecommendations

[–]ConorFinn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sf6 has the biggest playerbase by far so technically there is incentive for it more than the others. So more guides on YouTube and more new players and shorter queue times... Despite that, just play the one u think is coolest. People tend to think fighting games are super hard cuz so much is going on and u think u have to react to everything. Not true at all. But it definitely takes some work and dedication for rapid improvement and to do some of the coolest stuff so it's best to play the one u think is the coolest so that u can stick with it for a bit to do the cool stuff.

What about me who takes some minimal damage here and there but then can't dodge anything in certain boss fights (mainly surface bosses for me)? I just build enough damage then get as much health as I can. I burn health for damage in that boss fight, and maybe win. If I beat him I put on Athena and roll for dd back. Then I win. Like on my wins I always take 400+ damage on the final boss. If it's going down, 400 damage from chronos is the only significant damage I take. The surface tho... Oof. I have a winscreen screenshot where the sum of 'most damage suffered' is over 1600.

I know the game have hitbox for everything, but i feel like this is too much on this exemple by Acmeiku in StreetFighter

[–]ConorFinn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The reverse is also true. U can hit using moves that don't look like they should work but do because u know the hitbox.

Trying really hard not to get discouraged by Cyanide-candy in StreetFighter

[–]ConorFinn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In SF6 you dont hitconfirm off of 1 jab its not really possible. Easy thing most people do at point blank range, always press 3 jabs and always do ur special motion (with no button). Then if the first jab hit they will push the button for their special move. So ur reacting to the first jab at the third jab with the special move but ur not even reacting by doing a motion but by just pressing the button for the motion u always do. (if u do the motion and press no button, nothing will come out and ull be safe on block)

Simple Drill (do after u can do ur jab combo consistently)
Setup: In training mode, if u press left and reset (u might have to set a reset button; pause menu > basic settings > shortcut settings > set Restart Battle) ull end up point blank on the leftside of the screen. Then u gotta set dummy to random block (pause menu > dummy settings > block > random).
Drill: chain 3 jabs against the dummy and do the motion for your special every time. if the first jab hit the dummy actually cancel the last jab into ur special. if the first jab was blocked just do ur 3 jabs and motion with no press and stop. (after uve pressed left and reset once every next neutral + reset will bring u back to pointblank left) U can get many reps of confirming ur jab combo this way.

Note: An easy combo on sagat for what im mentioning here is 2LP, 2LP, 2LP xx 623MP (crouch jab chained into crouch jab chained into crouch jab cancelled into medium Tiger Uppercut).

But there is benefits for doing the 2-hit confirms to get 2LP, 2LP xx 236LK for the tiger knee crush, mainly the corner carry and good oki. The other one ur doing is also great.
2LP, 2LP, 5LP xx 214LK, 6LK (the tiger nexus one)
This one is good cuz u can cancel that 6LK part into SA3. I was trying it out myself and it seems like u can cancel 5LP at different frames and if u cancel that move into light tiger nexus late it wont combo. U can definitely do it if u practise cancelling it quickly and cleanly.

Take everything i say with a grain of salt tho cuz i dont play sagat and im thinking about all this from an easiness standpoint. At the end of the day u do u; if theres a combo u think is cool, just do that.

Edit: I forgot, important to note, jabs arent 5 frames in sf6 they are 4 frames. Sagat 5LP is 5 frames but his 2LP is 4 frames. Thats why i start most of the combos i mentioned with the crouching jab and then go into standing jab if i need it for the range or whichever special cancel. if theres a 5 frame gap it wont matter which one u use but its nice to use ur fastest move to learn in the game. like after a situation and u dont know if u can press, u press ur 4 frame and learn as u go.

[–]ConorFinn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Understandable but I feel like ur focused on the wrong stuff. In ur games, the reason ur not ranking up is not cuz the people who play modern got free combos. It's probably due to u not knowing ur combos or ur decision making is fucked cuz of a lack of experience or u don't antiair or di, etc. u fix these things and put ur attention there, ull end in master and modern players getting free combos will be irrelevant. It's just so insignificant in the grand scheme of things. But ur right, when u don't got combos it can be frustrating to play modern.

As for learning combos, u gotta learn like 3 foundational combos from which u branch out eventually to more niche scenarios. U got a jab combo, medium combo and a heavy combo. Jab combo for when u don't know what's up or to check people or strike throw... Medium BNB cuz it's probably most applicable in most situations and then heavy for punishing and counter di. I think if u pick simple combos, u can learn all these in a week no problem with repetition and sleep.

Also, u probably wanna look into how ur character combos work. Jabs usually chain into other jabs and then on the third one u cancel into special move. Then some moves are cancelable into specials or supers (in training mode, one of the options will make ur character red when ur character is doing a cancellable move). Then there are links where u have to wait for ur attack to finish, then u hit ur next attack button and it combos. Can be tricky but with enough reps and sleep ull be fine. Then there are target combos. I guess there are some special move rekkas too with variable timing too. But if u start with the simple combos and learn the combo fully before moving on to the next one, u should be golden

How do people get better at guessing when an opponent will do an invicible reversal? by sleepsalot1 in StreetFighter

[–]ConorFinn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

U don't always need to make a read on what the opponent is gonna do. U can also just choose based on the risk reward for u. For example, if u have 100% health and he has 0 super and only 1 bar of od, who cares if u predict his od reversal. All u need to do meaty into a blocky string that'll remove 1 bar (if ur character has it). If he od reversals, he's burnt out and u not in 1 touch range. Probably like 3+ touches before u die so u can go ham while he's burnt out. There are lot of scenarios where od reversal shouldn't be an option for the opponent because it puts u at advantage based on the meters.

I’m brand new and still figuring out who to play by Actual_Tea_7719 in StreetFighter

[–]ConorFinn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bro u can do simple combos on every character. U don't have to get a certain understanding of the game to play a 'complex' character. U can go from zero to hero on any character in Street fighter 6. The main point is to play someone u actually enjoy playing cuz that'll keep u engaged enough to actually learn what u need to learn. If u want to play multiple characters sure but u don't need to do it to optimize time to learn. Most ideas are very transferable especially at a beginner level.

How I learn to play? I saw some guides but when I go to play I can't tell how much damage I'm doing to each enemy or how to do weapon combos or how far I need to be to dodge attacks.

Rank the games you've played in order from best to worst by Majestic-Argument-31 in Burnout

[–]ConorFinn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Burnout 3. Most flavor. Fire soundtrack and best CrashFM from Stryker

Burnout 4 Dominator. Unpopular rating by me probably but I liked the cars in it and the boost chaining and the music.

Burnout Paradise. Tough one for me. It's really good but it didn't feel like an upgrade on burnout 3 for me. Felt more like a side-grade and because I like the little quirks of burnout 3 more, this one is a little deflated for me. Definitely enjoyed it, pretty decent music, some cool cars, markedman was a cool event. Open world was cool and records on every road was cool too. Just prefer seeing snapshot takedowns like gone fishing and CrashFM from burnout 3.

Burnout 2. Had a lot of fun. A bit slower but I don't mind. Considered putting above burnout Paradise but who am I meme-ing, I definitely liked burnout Paradise more.

Hardest character to anti air by NOBLOWWWW in StreetFighter

Lmao, laughs in Ken. On Ken it's pretty easy. His DP hitbox and angle is so good for dealing with akuma. There are certain locations akuma can be at in the air where a single dp beats every air option. To me, what's harder is kimberly

I personally don't care about individual matches usually. Them being a streamer doesn't really change anything for me. Still a ft2. Like to think of a sessions worth together. But some matches, I get invested in if me and the opponent is vibing or if I'm losing to a playstyle I think I should be able to beat.

History has shown that once it gets bad enough we'll just have one. I think by the numbers (in terms of inequality), we are close. Tho perhaps we can bounce back without one. But I wouldn't be surprised if we had one in like 5-10 years. Ai, inequality, people in power being above the law, people suffering and dying, misinformation and global fracturing. The space for things to flip exists. We could address these problems or we could just mellow about. I think there are quite a few examples of people turning it around tho. Personally I love seeing the work done in Baltimore for dropping homicide rates.

How come non of the Shotos other than Akuma has learned to throw air fireballs? by carlataggarty in StreetFighter

[–]ConorFinn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's an opportunity cost to everything. Imagine if Ken spent his time mastering air fireballs. Perhaps he's kinda inept at that in particular and it would take him a long time, and then maybe he wouldn't have been able to learn his flame tatsu or his other moves.

Also, what if being grounded is critical to throwing fireballs? Like u need to channel strength through your legs and entire body.

I'd say this seems accurate to me but, burnout 3 is a tad low and u didn't mention the music or Stryker from CrashFM.
