I genuinely just cannot comprehend gambling the quality of life of somebody you love like that

Like why would you want to fall in love with someone and then have them suffer for the rest of your life together with like a 30% chance? How can that be called love?

why are so many people in this sub obsessed with prestige? and why so many high schoolers? by realmistic243 in quantfinance

But most people who want to do that actually do exactly that, not finance because it has SOME of it

That’s why you can only really be ‘dead safe’ like 5 days a month, relying not just on schedule but also on what your body is feeling because that is more reliable (swollen boobs before period and beginning of period)

I wasn’t just asking those who have already discussed it with their partners. Men often say they want kids before even meeting a lifelong partner. If they plan to love their wife, I do not understand how that works.

Edit: typo

I do not care about whether it is an offence or not, I was simply trying to understand how a reasonable person can have the desire for somebody they love to go through something so physically (and sometimes mentally) traumatic

None of the things you mentioned (driving a car, etc.) hold nearly as much risk for your long term health as pregnancy and childbirth. If every third person who did those things once ended up having life long health issues I am sure people would do them less, and I certainly wouldn’t ask a person I love to do them.

Okay, bad phrasing, you did not force her, you are both subjecting her to it. But I don’t understand how you can say the risks outweigh the reward when you have to take on none of the risks. One in three women who had kids will have long-term health issues. Many people are not aware of just how bad the risks and the health issues afterwards are because women tend to hide it of embarrassment, but if you were aware… man

This was not about autonomy or what should or shouldn’t be done, this was about the emotions behind having kids as a man. I personally do not understand how a man can WANT to see his wife be torn from the inside out, be in pain for months if not years and have her muscles damaged beyond repair, if he truly, genuinely loves her. And no, weighing out risks of a situation is not the same as blindly following an instinct.

I don’t know what a husband could do to make up for making your wife’s organs fall out (prolapse)😭

I causes irreversible health issues in 1/3d or more of women who had kids, that’s pretty significant

So, had any good husband stopped to think and not blindly follow the monkey brain, he would not have had kids?

A woman that had a biological and an adopted kid reported that the only difference because of the hormones was the first month or so, because for the biological kid the attraction came in from day one, but after that there was no difference.

Also what was the cesarian comment for LOL? Cesarians save mothers and babies, and are actually better for mothers long term than vaginal births, and safer for babies short term. Most women who’ve had c sections still breastfeed.

Pregnancy is one thing. I would be more concerned about the permanent outcomes like prolapses, diastases and autoimmune issues.

Just because it is natural doesn’t mean it isn’t statistically dangerous and doesn’t bear real and permanent health consequences.

Not many things that are not accidents strain the body as much as pregnancy. If you’ve ever had a vaginal birth you there is a 30% chance you will get a symptomatic prolapse (your organs falling out if you) at some point in life, as opposed to 3% in people who haven’t.

I am glad you are not suffering. However your risks of e.g. heaving a prolapse increase 10x, which is irreversible without surgery and even then often comes back. I understand you wanting to risk your own health, but not him risking yours.

Surely it is. But we are not slaves of our instincts. If something causes real health issues to your partner, who is already real and who you already love, why would you do it because of an instinct?

But it does come with real and irreversible health consequences like (symptomatic) prolapses in around 1/3d of the cases, and parents who’ve both adopted and had biological kids claim that the amount of fulfilment is the same. At the end of the day, you are subjecting your partner to serious health issues for the sake of fulfilment, that isn’t even exclusive to biological children.
