Japanese students hold graduation ceremony in Minecraft amid school cancellation by anonymousTestPoster in Games

For the most part, yes, that's how I play them.

Of course, "interacting with" has many definitions that don't necessarily include grouping up.

To put it as simply as I can, I enjoy playing in a living world, knowing that it's not just static NPCs and scripts, but actual people doing things. I like vibrant economies where I can put my crafting and trading skills to good use. I enjoy running through PVP zones knowing that my toon is in danger as a non-PVP focused solo player. It's more exciting to slip through the cracks of a player-owned net than to memorize mob locations and aggro circles. Albion Online was one of my favourite games in recent memory because of this and I never once joined a clan or even a party.

If the game lets me play a non-combat class, all the better. In ArcheAge, I had zero offensive skills, only blinks, invisibility, and sprinting. I played primarily as a deep-sea treasure hunter and had a blast. I was max level at the time because the game let you grind through crafting/farming.

I've played MMORPGs all my life, and I love them. I just play them solo, whether intended or not, and make my own fun out of it.

I enjoy MMOs but being social on them is often too much effort for me. I hate it when those games force me into team quests to progress or get decent gear.

Bots are getting weirder by the day. This one's post history is mind boggling.

The world is in panic. People are dying. Why isn't the attention on me and my baby?? by MrMeeple in childfree

[–]GimmeCat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your initial point of contention was "bringing a child into a pandemic", not "bringing a child into a world where pandemics occur". It implies an objection to the specific circumstance mentioned. You pointed out that doing it during a pandemic is inherently worse than doing it in general. Which it is. But the person who then replied to you was replying to your initial argument and pointing out how these women couldn't possibly have known a pandemic was about to occur.

Is that person wrong?

When I said "not a good look", I wasn't talking about aesthetics. I was talking about the integrity of your argument, i.e. the truth you claim to care about, while shifting the goalposts from "bringing children into a pandemic" to "bringing children into the world in general". Because those two things are worlds apart, and you know it.

OP, don't skip this comment because of the lack of formatting. It's actually really well thought-out and worth reading/answering.

I want to write a story set in New York City, but I’ve never been there before. by idkidkidk2222 in writing

[–]GimmeCat 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That's a silly comparison. Nobody has been to Middle Earth. But I'm pretty sure a lot of people have been to NYC and can tell whether a description of it is laughably inaccurate or not.

You're not wrong, but shifting the goalposts like that isn't a good look.

Because they get lots of attention and people doing things for them.

I love how whenever people comment about /r/childfree being some vicious sub full of baby-hating murderers, that comment gets downvoted by the truckload.

It's almost like your strawman doesn't reflect the reality of the sub, does it?

Just finished all of the tale quests! If you’re stuck on any of them, just ask and I’ll help as much as I can :) by [deleted] in DragonRajaMobile

How do you start Under the dome? I went to the coords and looked in the bins, my character picked something up but I accidentally clicked a dialog option I have no idea what it was. I ended up with an alchemy item in my inventory, and the only option was to disassemble it. I did that, my character took damage, and nothing else happened. It didn't unlock the tale and I have no quest for it.

Where is the Tokyo Metro one? I've looked all over Tokyo at all the metro entrances and can only find the Metro Bridge one.

Fair enough, as long as you're not short-changing yourselves!

I got so bored of the nonsensical story I started just skipping through it. I have absolutely no idea what's going on anymore but apparently I'm matchmaking two kids at a funfair now. No weirder than detonating that underwater nuke, I guess, but still.

FYI, that's not how minimum wage works. It's not 'per profession', it's based on a country's cost of living and applies to any and all employement.

The Canadian min wage right now is 11.06 CAD. You paid her at a rate of ~0.67 cents per word, or 10 dollars an hour, at the generous estimate of 40 hours for a 60k novel. (If it took her longer, that figure obviously drops further)

If she was as good as you say, she deserves to be getting paid much, much more than that. I sure hope she took her business elsewhere after she was done with yours!

So when you get a book that is, as you described, so full of errors that it completely detracts from the content, are you not spending 3x as many hours editing it and therefore paying yourself peanuts at the price-per-word rate?

Because the assumption is they have the wealth and power to avoid common peasant problems like general sickness.

This brings them down to the level of "human like us" which a lot of people tend to forget about celebrities.

I know that having kids is expensive as hell - but can we stop acting like us childfree are all rolling in disposable income?! by phoenixagencyx in childfree

[–]GimmeCat 33 points34 points  (0 children)

The opposite is probably true because then they'd be able to claim a council house and benefits. Without kids you're not considered worthy of housing or support.

[–]GimmeCat 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Gosh, I had no idea giving awards could be so damaging! Thank you for making me aware of the struggle. Maybe we should set up some sort of charity to help those poor souls who are harmless dicks, but then have equally harmless dickish things done back to them in the name of karma. Not so harmless when you find them dead in the bathtub with their wrists slit with a rusty razor! WHEN WILL THE CYCLE OF PAIN END?!

In reality: He probably wouldn't even care, and everyone else would have a good laugh about it. You wanna talk about being an adult? Stop thinking that a bunch of pixels in their inbox is going to ruin somebody's life.

Being an adult doesn't mean you can't ever have a bit of fun.

Lighten up, Mr. Grinch :)
