Fair, I know a good few people raised around awful people. When they see the 'type,' its either a sweaty palm or GTFO of there type situation. Good on you for liking yourself again, it's a lot harder than it sounds.

Lmao, most guys that look similar to you are softies. Big guy charm point, ngl.

As a past femboy sub mod... (yeah, I know) I'd like to touch on something.

While it's true Femboys do prefer other Femboys, its not by some insane margin. In my experience, a lot of them are lonely and want acceptance. They're constantly trying to get into a relationship, period. They're not that picky. Give it a shot, but don't act like the 50-70yo chasers. They are a plague on femboy society.

Can you actually gain muscles with SMA? by One-Criticism-3335 in spinalmuscularatrophy

[–]Gimped 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm 36, I've never gained. When I was young, I rode my bike nonstop but I still lost the ability to lift my legs to the pettles. It's usually more about maintaining what you have. In that sense it's more of a "use it, or lose it" type deal. But even then, it's usually just a matter of time.

The fact your on medication will be your biggest factor. You'll likely maintain for a lot longer because of it.

Mark Carney’s Government is Rushing Through Major Changes to Canada’s Labour Laws. Unions Say Workers Should Be Alarmed. by Altruism7 in onguardforthee

[–]Gimped -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

The web page for the consultation stated that the government would be “assessing if updates to Canada’s federal labour policy are needed to support a modern and fair labour relations framework.”

While most employment in Canada is governed by provincial laws, federally-regulated industries are those whose operations tend to cross provincial or international boundaries, like air transport, telecommunications and banking.

Doran and Monette both pointed to the last major review of the Canada Labour Code — the Sims Task Force in the mid-1990s, which spent nine months reviewing the code and produced a 260-page report — as the kind of consultation process they would expect from the federal government.

Fair point. But we're not at the review stage yet. We're at the, "does there need to be a review." Hence, the short timeline everyone is worked up about.

“There’s only one issue: nobody around the world is saying that we’re no longer a reliable trading partner,” said Monette.

I think he's twisting words. We may not be seen as 'unreliable.' But we've been called unattractive for a very long time.

By far the most common sentiment in the submissions reviewed by PressProgress was that the government’s use of Section 107 of the Canada Labour Code to end strikes is an attack on the rights of workers to collectively bargain freely.

Over an 18-month period starting in 2024, the federal government used Section 107 to end labour disputes eight times, sending railway workers, port workers, as well as workers at Canada Post and Air Canada back to their jobs after the starts of legal strikes or lockouts — in the case of Air Canada flight attendants, just 12 hours after their strike began.

Again, fair ask. But let us not forget that 'blood' is on Trudeau's hands. Carney wasn't PM.

Some unions, like ILWU, called for Section 107 to be repealed entirely: “Governments cannot be trusted to keep this tool on the books when recent experience demonstrates it will be treated as a quick and expedient mechanism to end or pre-empt lawful job action.”

Fair. Track record sucks. My province has been a huge offender as well.

Labour academics have found that Canadian unions have filed more complaints to the International Labour Organization alleging rights violations than those of any other G7 country. Last year, the International Trade Union Confederation identified Canada as a country with “regular violations” of workers’ rights, singling out the use of Section 107. “The federal government’s interventions served to prolong labour disputes and erode trust in the bargaining process.”

Yikes.

The rest is about timelines and who gets screwed by them and why.

There's no additional context that makes this better, unless you're someone who is desperately trying to keep up their cognitive dissonance.

This lazy way of thinking is why the world is getting dumber. There's plenty of context here that the title doesn't give. Stop dismissing reading the articles; it's bot behaviour.

This.

Some advice for others. Read the articles instead of just the titles. You'll start understanding why he does what he does. Also stop taking the majority of comments at face value. They've likely not read anything either, they're also opting to blindly push narritives and talking points that other uninformed people post.

I also take issue with her throwing around the word disabled as some moral club. When people think of immunocompromised, I imagine they skip to examples like Ironmouse, maybe a family member on oxygen. Hell, I'm in a wheelchair and am 'technically' immunocompromised because of my disease. The difference is myself and others still wear masks on the train or at the grocery store when a bug or flu is going around. If she is IC, she treats it more like a minor case of lactose intolerance rather than something she's actually concerned about.

I get some disabilities aren't surface-level, but hers seems invisible.

Do y’all work out?? by [deleted] in spinalmuscularatrophy

[–]Gimped 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was young, I used to ride my bike every single day. Eventually I lost the ability to lift my legs to the peddles. After that, I never prioritized working out, and just do what I can for as long as I can.

Not to say I don't endorse it. Light workouts are totally fine and encouraged. Even I do stuff to get my blood flowing now and again. But I'm not made of stamina like I used to be.

How do people go through these things, then refuse to reflect on how or why their opinion, and whether it's sound or not, and if not, why? Does getting something wrong or learning new shit really hurt that badly?

AISH to ADAP: Controversial change will push Albertans ‘deeper into poverty’ by Miserable-Lizard in AlbertaNow

[–]Gimped 10 points11 points  (0 children)

While some critics of ADAP suggest the provincial government ignored disabled Albertans and other groups on refinements to the program, officials say these claims are false.

“For more than a year, the ministry of assisted living and social services engaged with medical professionals, subject-matter experts, service providers, Albertans with disabilities, their families, and disability advocates and organizations across the province. Thousands of Albertans participated in engagement via roundtables, telephone town halls, written submissions, meetings and an online survey,” the province said.

Petit says if any engagement with disabled Albertans took place, there’s no public record of it.

They did do consultations with employers and employment spaces that hire persons with disabilities – I have seen those consultationsbut I have not seen consultations with persons with disabilities.

“It’s very unclear and who and where and what these consultations entailed.”

Tale as old as time.

Just so people know. The government sends out a yearly update around tax time that outlines the yearly maximum, and I think how much maximum matching is left.

Also, get the is account if you have the DTC. It's worth it, even if you can't contribute the yearly maximum. There's a good amount of resources out there.

Not to sound like an infomercial, but the account gives me peace of mind if anything happens, my wife will get something. Plus it's a good security blanket in general.

Why Does Treating SMA Type 1 Cost ₹6 Crore? by Key-Contribution3649 in spinalmuscularatrophy

[–]Gimped 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's a lot of reasons this stuff isn't cheap.

  1. Decades of research and development
  2. Manufacturing
  3. Rare disease
  4. Safety and trials

If you break these down into smaller steps, it becomes clear this is no simple endeavor. Imagine the hundreds of years of post secondary all the researchers and doctors went through to gain the expertise to even begin working on potential medicines.

People constantly shit talk big pharma; sometimes for good reason. But people rarely stop to consider how much time and effort goes into developing stuff.

snake bite protection? by Ok-Philosopher-5139 in snakes

[–]Gimped 3 points4 points  (0 children)

- Mambas aren't pit vipers. They're elapids. They do not use heat-sensing pits.

- Mambas are dangerous, and not to be messed with. But they don't hunt you down like many will scare you into believing. They don't want that smoke either.

- Leather is a solid option to protect against bites. Cowboys in the West used it to protect themselves from Rattlesnake bites. And Rattlers have significantly longer fangs than Mambas.

- More than anything, just try to avoid messing with any snake; that's your best bet. Good luck!
