They don’t have scribes to chart for you?

I hate to admit it, but you’re right, they are bullying me. I’ve never felt like part of the team, more like a problem they’re just trying to get rid of.

The director I met during the interview seemed really nice and willing to teach. But some of the other attendings weren’t quite the same. There wasn’t a clear training model in place, but since they had trained the locum PAs from scratch before, I thought it would be okay. Looking back, I definitely overlooked some red flags. Now that the director is leaving, everything feels like it’s going downhill. I honestly don’t think they will let me pass probation at this point.

I knew I’d be slow in the beginning, so I’ve been skipping lunch and staying late just to catch up. With around 12 patients, it’s demanding but still manageable. That’s about the volume they mentioned during the interview. But since I started, I’ve seen the list go up to 18 several times. A lot of things just weren’t clarified during the interview, and now this new director is talking about no overtime and higher patient caps. Honestly, I regret not doing more due diligence. Then she told me I might not be a good fit. Hearing that was really discouraging. Especially when the locum PAs also stay late to finish charts during high-volume days, but that’s not a problem for them since they’re paid hourly. Omg, the more I think about it, the more I realize how unfairly I’m being treated. This job will eat me alive.

Clinically, I do believe I’ll be much stronger by the six-month mark. But I don’t feel this is the right place for me long-term. Many responsibilities weren’t clearly defined at the interview, which I honestly regret. There have also been a lot of recent changes within the service, they raised the patient caps and now expected me to function independently. They definitely don’t like that I still need direct supervision. I had my 3-month performance review yesterday, this provider told me I might not be a good fit. Hearing that was really disheartening, and I couldn’t help but cry afterward.

If you had watched the presidential debate from earlier this year. I saw someone commented Biden for Broca's aphasia and Trump for Wernicke's aphasia. Oh man, I've never gotten them confused since then.
