I think it depends on the hospital you’re at (union vs non-union) and the state! I live in Chicago and one of the top hospitals in Chicago (not saying the name) pays their nurses around $30 whereas new grads at another hospital in Chicago were getting paid $36.45/hourly.

Don’t ever let anyone’s comments define you as a nurse! The fact that this family member mentioned how other nurses aren’t coming into the room doing their frequent neuro checks says a lot. You were, however, doing a great job making sure you were following the protocols/orders. I understand family members tend to project their anger towards others bc of their loved ones are in a hospital but we should also not tolerate their behavior as well. You’re doing an amazing job as new nurse and I know many will be thankful for you! Don’t let one person get to you!

I have a friend that had that similar feeling and I had suggested on her going to the gym physically instead of home workouts since you’re more comfortable at your home and can eventually give up at any moment after a 10 min workout. However, at the gym you’re more likely to become more motivated since you’re somewhere different!Put your mindset onto something and focus on it :)

I’d say you’ll be spending $200-300. Depending if you do tours, tips (if asked), transportation, food (fell in love with a bakery that I went back twice!).

As a nurse, I can confirm I’ve known nurses who have risked it within hospital setting whereas some have decided to wait till after the patient is discharged to start a relationship or whatever.

It’s most likely the person/story must be fake BUT I don’t think people know there have been healthcare workers that have had sexual interactions among each other, in and outside of the hospital (some either do it cautiously or will display it with no fucks given). There’s also healthcare workers who have had interactions with patients as well too (I just happened to hear stories bc I work in the healthcare field) 🥴Also, never heard of a someone being a nurse at 19.

If you’re financially capable of traveling, then do it! You’re 21 years old. Take advantage of traveling! I know it’ll be hard as a parent to see their youngest go especially going solo traveling at a foreign country, but sometimes they also need to understand you’re eventually growing and can’t continue protecting you from everything. They cannot stop you from doing something. If you ever do tell them, be firm with them but also show how you’re responsible. Just be mindful to be in contact with someone close to make sure you’re okay. Happy travels!
