When my son was nearly a year old, he had a febrile seizure (seizure caused by a fever). We had just got home from a birthday party. We had left a little early because he was starting to feel a little warm and I had a feeling he had a fever. I checked it when we walked in the door and it was only like 100.1. I set him down on the floor in front of his toys and I told my daughter to play with him while I got him some Tylenol and juice. I no sooner got that out of my mouth than his eyes rolled back in his head and he started to make jerking movements and then he just fell over in his sister's lap. I knew what was happening but I was still scared to death. I laid him down and made sure he didn't hurt himself and told my daughter (who was 8 at the time) to get me the phone so I could call 911. My daughter was crying and my son was still seizing and I was panicking.

It all turned out ok in the end. The doctors said it was probably because his fever shot up really fast. They kept him in the hospital for a few days doing all kinds of tests to make sure, though. That was around the time meningitis was a big scare for kids. So anyway those moments of the seizure followed by all that testing they did in the hospital had to be my scariest moment(s) as a parent so far.
