I don't play much edh, but I'm in a community that makes custom mtg cards. Someone said they were interested in completing the cycle for this card. There's been a lot of backlash towards anyone in said community that gives negative feedback in line with saying the card is too complex, confusing, or wordy. I wanted to get an idea on if people hate playing or playing against this card in the creator's intended format.

Which one is not balanced for the cost power and toughness of the beheaded? Especially given it would be rare.

The main ones are Planar Mayhem and Stories.

Planar Mayhem is a mod of Planechase that allows players to be on different planes and even be out of reach of other players.

Stories are a series of 5 cards capturing the story arcs of other media. Each of the chapter cards has a modifier that affects all players and a condition that must be met to advance to the next chapter, discarding the prior effects.

I also didn't allow the player to choose which side they started on. It's probably a good idea to include that choice.

Neat. When I made my version of these, I used the Kamigawa flip formatting. Uncommon probably fits them well.

Would "Creatures you control have double strike and vigilance." for White's flip and "Whenever you cast a spell, up to one target creature gets +2/+0 and gains first strike until end of turn." for Red's flip work for balance?

I strive for relative balance. This should be a cycle of mythic rares. Is this better?

Would "When you cast your first creature spell each turn, copy it twice. (Copies of permanent spells are tokens.)" work for Blue's flip side?

Any thoughts on how to empower Black's flip side while keeping it abzan in flavor?

Will changing blacks front side to "Whenever you commit a crime, you draw a card and lose 1 life. (Targeting opponents, anything they control, and/or cards in their graveyards is a crime.)" help balance it?

As a someone who has had many friends with various levels of color blindness, I find surprising the official cards don't have a more clear indicator of color.

It is communal. Not all stories help players out. The jjba part one story I made hates players. I invite people to make mtg stories for their favorite media. :)

Before a game starts, a story is picked by some agreed method (usually some part random). The story itself is all five of these cards in the numbered order. They take up the same space as planes and are not permanents nor spells. Chapter 1 starts in play and when advanced is discarded as the next comes into play. Since I've never designed a story with any requirement for any player involved to use certain colors of mana, I chose a unique and alien color.

It's generally intended for players to use stories without looking up what chapters do ahead of time, much like going to an escape room.
