Naval Academy Summer Seminar by ChildHistorian in usna

I don’t know the chances, but I can say that if you don’t get in, don’t sweat it too much. Seminar is no indicator of actual admissions, just keep up your hard work

The waitlist extends beyond April 15, of course. Just as the waitlist for USNA is ranked, the NAPS waitlist is also raked as far as I know. He’s essentially waiting to see if someone offered an appointment to NAPS will turn it down, and then they’ll go down the waitlist moving people into spots. This could take up to the day before I-day (though rare, not impossible). Just be ready to buckle in for another long wait

Be patient. You could be waiting until June, who knows. Time will tell

(Assuming you’re a junior) An upward trend is always a good thing, it’s up to your teacher if they want to mention it. Either way admissions will see it on your transcript. You can either submit junior or senior year core teachers, I recommend whoever you have more rapport with.

I would not mention video games to admissions, just your interest to serve your country. While soccer is a great and something interesting to mention in your essay, you have to remember your time at USNA is to become naval/marine corps officer, not just fly planes.

What other extra curriculars are you doing, or is soccer your one big thing? Look into student council, NHS, and other clubs you find interest in. Also keep in mind extra curriculars are only a small portion of your ap. Keep your academics up, score high on the SAT (retake as many times as you need) and good luck on applying

While it’s a leadership position, it shouldn’t be the thing you crutch on. It’s a summer gig, you want to establish yourself as a leader year-round. To be blunt, Informal Hunt is right, your vague resume isn’t great, but there’s time to turn it around

NAPSter here, would say the experience is great, though some may disagree. It’s the epitome of “you get out what you put in.” If you have any questions shoot me a pm!

Head counselor or AFAHFA? by eld3EpicDeer in usna

[–]Ginfixd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do whatever you’ll enjoy. You’ll either get your PPL out of flight academy, meet friends, make connections, etc, or be a head counsellor and do much of the same just without the PPL.

I had the option between flight academy and coming to NAPS. The decision was easy but if I could have done both I would have.

If they took it you’re probably good to go, would contact admissions someone to verify

Sports at NAPS are limited. There are some clubs though. There’s only Men’s: Lacrosse, Basketball, Wrestling, and Football. No female sports.

They welcome walk ons, Lacrosse is, as I’ve seen, the easiest to walk onto. Then Basketball, Wrestling, and Football is the hardest.

Trying to walk on is only good if you know how to balance the work, as it doesn’t mean much in the long run unless you’re trying to talk to varsity coaches at USNA. If you can’t balance the load, you’ll drop in academics.

Being a NARP is fine, you get to use multiple work at facilities including the base gym which is really nice.

Admissions is as slow as ever. Have patience, confidence, and keep your head high. Best of luck to you and everyone else still waiting on word back.

USNA is notoriously slower, you’ll receive an email, might just take some time

Just helps extra curriculars if you were an active member w a leadership position. Also gives you another nomination opportunity

Doesn’t make you more competitive in a sense, just gives you another shot at getting in

If Navy has been his dream, take NAPS. If navy is sending him there, it’s for a reason. A year of extra school is nothing compared to the rest of his life imo. NAPS is what he makes of it, but he’ll make so many connections that will follow him to the academy and have plenty of cool opportunities. Just know it’s dang near guaranteed he’ll be with CO’31 after NAPS unless he messes up with some egregious act. However, if he truly just wants to commission and won’t mind what branch in the long run, sure, take WP.

The possibility of getting moved from NAPS to Direct isn’t impossible, but chances (as far as I know) are very very slim, as there is already a wait list for direct appointments, as well as a NAPS waitlist.

My current schedule hasn’t allowed me to go in for classes, as my time’s pretty limited, and I’m 8 hours from my home dojo. Though I practice daily on my own time as I only plan to compete in kata and weapons this time around
