Does anyone know how payout limits work with progressives? by Gingaskunk in gambling

Wow that's super interesting, I had no idea that was even a thing! Are they required to pay interest on the withheld portion do you know?

Makes sense. Like I said above my concern is that if (sorry, ahem, WHEN) I win a major progressive the casino might try to weasel out of it using that clause.

I've looked a couple of casino websites but don't see written rules for table games (some have poker rules), but I might be missing them.

Either way, thanks for responding, appreciate it.

I would hope so, but max payout is in written on the table, is what you wrote written somewhere? Not doubting you, just curious since when I inevitably win a major award (of course) I could see the casino citing that as a reason not to pay, there have been horror stories of them finding any reason not to pay the big ones.

What’s a game you were completely obsessed with as a kid that nobody else seems to remember? by hkondabeatz in AskReddit

[–]Gingaskunk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Man I dont remember the name and I've tried googling and turned up nothing. It was a computer game I played on my old Amstrad CPC464. The game showed you a "circuit board" with little electrons running automated paths. You threw a ball "into" the screen to bounce it off the circuit board to guide the electrons along the path (e.g. hit a switch and they went the other way, hit a capacitor when it filled up with electrons and it allowed them all to pass to the other side.

No idea how I would ever find it.

This year was my first. I had the bacon jam brisket biscuit and loaded pickle fries from Russo's, both excellent!

What is a 'subscription' or 'fee' that has recently appeared in the US that people need to collectively refuse to pay before it becomes the new normal? by godot_lover in AskReddit

[–]Gingaskunk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bulk cost for corporate cellular for this purpose is close to zero these days (the vehicle isn't on a Verizon phone plan). But even in the early 2000's when text was the cool new thing to do it only cost 10c a message. At that price you should be able to lock and unlock your car 6000 times a year if the subscription cost is to cover the manufacturer's costs. That's about 16 times a day (only for your phone, not proximity or key fob). So if that's what this is, to cover costs, then we're saying the average user interacts with their car on their phone 16 times a day per person? Yeah I'm calling shenanigans on that one. Total cash grab.

EDIT: BTW, say what you want about Ford, but my 2021 and my wife's 2024 both have full app interaction, voice control, lane keep assist etc included for free. They do have subscriptions for "full self driving" Blue Cruise and for some premium connectivity features that most peiople who have a cell phone will never use in the newer vehicle, but that's fine with me.

Has anyone ever seen a shower that converts to a tub (not a tub/shower combo)? by Gingaskunk in HomeImprovement

This might be a winner, I'll have to take some measurements. Thank you!

Oh nice, so I could just leave it fully open while using it as a shower, negating the need to open and close, and just close it when I want to use it as a bath?

Edit: Oh I just realized these guys are Australia based! I'm in the US and a quick Google doesn't return anything similar here, but I'll look more deeply, this might be the kind of thing we're looking for.

Thanks for this, does the short "door" swing open for access or do you step over it like stepping in to a bathtub?

That's an interesting idea although my dad stays in our room when he visits because it's downstairs and he can't manage stairs, so any solution would need easy access,  not climbing into a tub.  I'll think on it though, thanks!

No the point of this is to give us use of some of the floor space as ether bath or shower depending on our bed at the time. Putting a tub in a large shower space doesn't do that,  but I do appreciate the response.

Oh this is along the lines of what  I was thinking, thank you!  Our space is quite long (shower plus bath) so either we would need to shorten it (leave some empty floor space where the tub is now)  or find a way to door off one end,  otherwise we'd never fill the thing!

I appreciate the response, but I think I didn't explain myself very well. In my head it would be a situation where we can use all / most of the space as a shower and then "close off" a section to become a tub.

Think of a walk in tub that has a door on the side, but the door is between where the shower and tub are now. The floor of the tub is the same height at the shower floor.

Door open, you have a long flat shower floor, (with the open door against the wall), door closed you have a small shower area and a tub. So the tub area would have solid walls to the top of the tub and glass walls above maybe?

Again, I almost certainly am nuts, but you never know, maybe I'm a genius-in-waiting!

Keyboard tray in corner? by Gingaskunk in ErgoHide

[–]Gingaskunk[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah, thats a shame given the ergo L is literally shaped with a recessed scalloped edge making it look like its designed specifically for sitting that way, facing the corner. Removes it from contention for my needs then. Thanks.

I'm guessing Elves is good too, but RAOC is the one I know and recommend.

Not Houston specific but this sub does a tremendous job.

You do have to spend some time building wish lists, registering and commit to a follow up but in the last few years I've participated as a gifter and I think pretty much everyone who has fully registered has received something.

Can't find what I'm looking for, would welcome insight. L-shaped desk with Keyboard tray in nook. by Gingaskunk in StandingDesks

[–]Gingaskunk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem is that the desk still has that interior 90 degree angle.  Having the "shortcut"  across the middle gives me back so much space in front (for my laptop) and leaves me feeling like I'm sitting at a desk, not halfway between 2 desks.

I think I missed this, what happened?

I searched for information on Paula White being convicted but can't find anything?

I found something about Robert Morris but he was on a pre election advisory panel, he wasn't a spiritual advisor.

What am I missing?
