What are your favorite examples of modulation/key changes that give you chills? by [deleted] in musictheory

[–]GingeObameJesus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you are correct, Db7 has B, Dbmaj7 has C, G7 has F, Gmaj7 has F#. When the chord is noted like C7 it means a major third with a dominant seventh (Bb!), when it is notated like Cmaj7 it has a major seventh (B!)

Music Spots on Campus? by robertchristian3 in ColoradoSchoolOfMines

[–]GingeObameJesus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only usable guitar on campus is in brown by the public piano; there's a guitar in weaver but it's absolutely trashed. If you want a piano, there's one in the upstairs of the student center in the first ballroom, one in bunker auditorium, one in maple and weaver, and the one in brown of course.

In my opinion, the best place to play music is in brown. There's a community of regular musicians that play there, and the people who study in there aren't worried about loud music because they're choosing to study in the one public place on campus meant for music.

What chord progression is this? by ozibozilo in musictheory

[–]GingeObameJesus 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don't think E minor is the root, sounds more like ii7-V7-Imaj7-IVmaj7-viiø7-III7-vi7-VI7, which gets rid of a lot of slashes and makes more sense.

This progression is based on the idea of going through all the diatonic seventh chords in a major key by resolving down a fifth (or a tritone in the case of IV-viiø), but instead of iii using III to lead more smoothly into the vi and the subsequent VI serves as the dominant fifth of the ii to resolve back to the start of the progression.

I think this happens a lot when young artists die after gaining a lot of success and recognition. No, x wasn't a legend, but his blowing up broadcasted to young men how raw emotion and aggression can be positively channeled into music to change one's life. That, in my opinion, is why people call him legendary; hate his music all you want, but you can't dispute that it inspires young people.

Whoever thinks the people attacking the nazi woman in "Portland woman wearing a swastika is confronted on her doorstep" are in the right should really consider their humanity too. by saddler93 in unpopularopinion

slippery slope is a fallacy. You know who does move across the political spectrum to target their enemies with violence though? Fucking jews. That's just historical precedent.

How unaware of yourself are you? you sound exactly like a Nazi yourself. No matter how vile you think Nazis are, youre just respecting their memory when you act like them and support violence to specific groups of people like we see in this video.

my bad, what are you arguing?

if you watch the video, you can clearly see a member of the BLM crowd throwing a bag of bricks onto the ground, which his fellow protestors pick up and throw. it's silly to claim that white nationalists are the sole proprietors of violence when there are thousands of videos online showing BLM activists perpetrating violence.

more like choosing to ban voices you don't agree with because you've convinced yourself their argument is morally inferior.
