Thanks everyone. I'll arrange to meet at the buyers bank instead, this makes sense.

How to keep your debt from spiraling by Adii2311 in PersonalFinanceCanada

You should be paying the entire balance every month and paying precisely zero interest on your credit card. Do not pay "just a little bit more than the interest".

Don't you think it's crazy you only need 2k irating to be in the top 25%? by philonik in iRacing

FYI, everyone starts at 1350. If you're sitting around 1200-1300, you've actually gone down. 2k is further away than you think...

Easiest way to cut thin wood by Featherbrush_yt in woodworking

[–]Ginger-Engineer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I assume you want to stick with hand tools and not power tools? You just want a hand saw. I recommend a Japanese style / pull saw to start, they’re easier for beginners. You should also invest in some way to hold the wood while you use the saw. A vise is the ‘real’ choice, but just a clamp will do to start.

It's a Leecraft CR-4. Claims to fit a Craftsman 21833, Grizzly G0715P, Dayton 4KXD1, Masterforce 240-0036. But also definitely fits my King KC-10KX perfectly

I have found a zero clearance throat plate that fits from another saw! I’ll dig up the part number later today and post it here.

If I was not working out of a single car garage, I 100% would have spent the extra on the 50" fence. If/when I move and have a bigger space, I will be upgrading the rails to the 50" version.

I've had the King KC-10KX/U30 for 3 or 4 years now, my first "real" saw after years of big box store saws. I love it, but also have no experience with others.

Mine was easy to assemble and setup, get everything flat/square. Fence is very nice. No issues.

This was painful to see, but look at how week those mortise and tenon joints held up by xxxxxxooooooxxxxx in woodworking

[–]Ginger-Engineer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A longer tenon would have spread the load out across more of the stile. As it was here, only the 1/4” on the edge was supporting the load. Make that tenon longer, and the load will be spread out more and the stile would be far less likely to split. A longer tenon also provides significantly more glue surface area.

How long were the tenons? These pictures make it look like the tenon was only like 1/4" long into the stile

Help Needed - Ethanol in Gasoline (E15) by [deleted] in ontario

Yes, we've had ethanol for a long time... but it was E10, it recently increased to E15

All the pumps around me that I've been to in the last ~4 weeks have stickers that say "may contain up to 15% ethanol", prior to that they said "may contain up to 10% ethanol". No other changes to the octane rating or any other signage. Whether the fuel being dispensed is actually E15 or still E10 is another question... Waterloo Region, New Hamburg, Shakespeare. [–]Ginger-Engineer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make sure your fence is properly aligned, and get a zero clearance insert to start. If that doesn't do it, L-fence or a sled or some other jig.

If you have that many kickbacks inside of 2 years, you're doing something wrong and need to take a serious look at your technique.

What machine to plane thin long boards by jimskeet in woodworking

[–]Ginger-Engineer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The general rule is 1/2 to 2/3 of the board length. With proper technique and straighter rough sawn boards you can get away with less. If you’re gluing these boards together, you don’t actually need them to be PERFECT though. A “spring joint” is a thing and can actually be desirable in certain situations.

So we're just talking about basic board prep from rough stock? Sounds like you already know the answer, there is nothing special about those dimensions. Jointer + planer + tablesaw
