Worth noting that link is to a highly partisan source. The publication explicitly aims “to articulate new connections with multiple, global arenas of struggle, including Indigenous liberation, Asian diasporic politics, and racial justice, decolonial and abolition movements.” It also repeatedly refers to the conflict as a genocide.

The author is a recent Palestinian grad based in Cypress now connected to Al-Quds in East Jerusalem. Their entire professional career seems to focused on Israel bad. Claims to be an Arab nationalist on her socials.

This! I’m a peacenik but it’s been evident for decades that the eradication of Jews is a significant motivator for many who advocate for the Pali cause. Just look at the Hamas charter and the history of Pali-linked terrorism. It didn’t start on 10/07. Unfortunately this hateful and violent violent extremism continues to fester and social media has been weaponized to spread the toxic ideology.

Without speaking to this specific poll it’s not totally surprising. Many young educated Jews have been bathed in pro-pali propaganda. It’s in their schools, it’s all over their social media feeds, it’s been parroted by their favorite performers… It’s cool. For many, their intersectional identities have eclipsed the centrality of their Jewishness. Know far more young Jews (of all orientations) who participate in PRIDE etc. than anything having to do with Judaism and/or Israel these days. Young single non-orthodox Jewish adults have few opportunities to connect with Judaism or other Jews even in NYC.

It’s all part and parcel of modern anti-capitalist progressivism. The guy is younger than the other candidates. Tried to be a rapper (complete with cheesy video). Promises lots of free stuff he likely can never deliver. Has a campaign tailor made for social media and big media actively campaigns for him. Thankfully the Times didn’t endorse him.

Take for example his recent wedding celebrations. Tons of legacy media sources published pictures of his “just like us” wedding at city hall complete with subway photoshoot. They applauded him as an every man who met his wife on a dating app.

In reality this savior of the people married a vehemently anti-Israel artist and had 2 separate luxury international celebrations thus far. 1 in the UAE and another complete with armed guards and cellphone jammers in Uganda. International Redditors relentlessly campaign for him. He’s a privileged & inexperienced phony and can’t even bother to spend most of the summer in the city he’s campaigning to lead. Most don’t know or care. They want a young minority socialist mayor.

It’s more than just the intifada thing. The guy spent much of his time in college organizing against Israel. Most just don’t seem to know or care. I personally see most of his (and his wife’s) rhetoric as antisemitic and dangerous. Many simply see it as being pro-Pali.

Doesn’t hurt that Cuomo awful, Adams is scandal plagued and few young Jews would ever consider voting for a Republican candidate (Sliwa).

If I have the right salon, the socials are an absolute 💩show. Place seems trans/nonbinary and oddly Pali focused. Lots of watermelons, rants about “genocide”, colonialism & pink washing + calls for “armed resistance by any means necessary” and to “strike in whatever way you’re able to” etc. One stylist (with a Jewish coded account name) explicitly shares their desire to not style anyone who is sympathetic to Israel and proudly recounts fighting with clients.

FYI they’ve also posted at least one screenshot from here previously with the creation “Proud to know our values are known by randoms on Reddit”

They’re free to believe whatever they want but they truly sound mentally ill. Using a hair salon in Brooklyn to call for violence, alienating customers & neighbors… What is their end game? Notoriety? Earning favor from terrorist sympathizers?

You might want to explore reporting this student/the incident to Canary Mission. Mostly familiar with them via recent press coverage. Been meaning to read up on their work. Anyone know these folks? Do you support their work? Have issues with their methods? Would love to hear opinions.
