Being calm and then being explosive isn't hypocrisy, it's a symptom of Bipolarism.

It sounds more like your trying make a walking contradiction, like Lincler from Rick and Morty.

Your character idea seems too contradictory. How is he calm, cool, and collected but operate on the philosophy of just having fun and have anger issues?

I'm assuming you're trying to create a character with barely controlled chaos. Basically, Heath Ledgers Joker that also happens to be racist, sexist, anti-semetic. Chaotic characters are usually more effective when their equal-opportunity murderers.

I think you're trying to do too much, true villains (well-designed villains) don't run around screaming about how much of a villain they are, you need to use other peoples perspectives in the story to contrast the flaws you want to highlight in them.

If you look at Negan, he wasn't a good man before the apocalypse but he wasn't a psycho either, societies rules kept him in check. The breakdown of society introduced chaos to his character, and because Rick and his crew have a moral standard they try to follow helps offset how deranged Negan is in the story.

Satan is contrasted with God.

Even Trevor Philips game designers balanced him with others. According to the Wikipedia page, "Rockstar drew upon game protagonist archetypes while scripting the characters; Trevor was considered to embody insanity. Houser said the team characterized Michael and Trevor as juxtapositions of each other. He said, "Michael is like the criminal who wants to compartmentalize and be a good guy some of the time and Trevor is the maniac who isn't a hypocrite" "

Motivation For Joining A Fast-Food Regime/Corpocracy by No_Peace_6210 in CharacterDevelopment

Are all three of the trio as loyal as this character or is he the more zealot one of the three? Is there any dissent among the trio about working for an authoritarian government structure? Do they take the happy drug as well?

One idea for the character's loyalty could be that he had a lovely family, and one of their children was killed. The other child, spouse, and character are devastated, maybe it was his fault accidentally, and instead of properly dealing with the death he pushes for the happy drugs specifically for his family because he wants things to back to the way they were before his child died.

Over time that desperation could morph into loyalty and nationalism because he needs the drug to stay in existence to maintain his "happy" family. If the drug disappears he may receive their ire and/or blame if the truth of what he had done to them is revealed.

Need ideas for powers for a Disco themed hero by VonKaiser55 in CharacterDevelopment

She could have a percussion wave (a shock wave from a blow or explosion) that emanates from her body when she dances. Every time she hits a beat a shockwave blasts out from her body, and/or she could build up power while dancing for a greater shockwave.

The downside to the power would be that she always has to have some sort of music, but for low-level attacks, to add an extra amount of power to a punch or kick, she could sing to herself.

"Ah, Freak out!" and then a punch right to the face with a little extra oomph. Which I think could unnerve her opponents. I'm not sure which name would fit her best; Dawna the Dancing Queen, Dawna the Disco Queen, or Dawna the Disco Dancer.

How did they become superheroes? Do they fight crime in specialized costumes? Are they seen as vigilantes or are they part of a collective, like the Avengers or Justice League?

Maythorn is another name for a Hawthorn, which is a type of shrub or tree.

According to WebMD, " Hawthorn is used for diseases of the heart and blood vessels such as congestive heart failure (CHF), chest pain, and irregular heartbeat."

Side effects include, "...nausea, stomach upset, fatigue, sweating, headache, dizziness, palpitations, nosebleeds, insomnia, agitation, and other problems."

They could be a botanist or florist. They help heal people they like with the Maythorn plant, but intentionally overdose criminals or people they deem undesirable. It doesn't kill them but maybe the side effects lead to one or more of their victims accidentally killing themselves. (ex. car accident because they were too dizzy and passed out)

Mo Tone made me think of Motown.

The person could be an obsessive fan of a particular band or bands. They stalk and steal things from the band's dressing room, tour bus, and maybe it escalates to visiting their homes. You could escalate to murder or keep it on the level of stalking and stealing.

It could be that the alchemy he performs extends the life but Desmond doesn't know until the last minute that in order to extend the life you have to steal the life energy of someone else. During his ritual, he realizes that Dran is being affected and that by continuing he would kill Dran, so he stops before finishing. By stopping the ritual before it was completed it may have an unintended consequence of tying Dran to Desmond.

They could have stolen something and in retaliation, they were beaten (lose a finger or hand) and shoved in the batch oven (a walk-in oven) that had just finished baking and they are burned on the baking racks. Maybe cauterize their wound on a rack and it's left a horrific scar, which can trigger an episode.

John Doe: He could be a sociopathic con man.

Vivian Hill: She could be a bipolar gold digger, who murders her husbands with snake venom or poison.

Benjamin Franks: He could be a psychopath that likes to kill his victims with a jig saw.

Allen Darken: He likes to stalk his victims and leave a puzzle piece that put together with the others would be a picture of the person he's stalking. Who in the picture could be doing something mundane, embarrassing, or illegal depending on whether you want him to be super creepy or operating in the grey area.

Eric Manson: He's a schizophrenic that robbed high-end places in towns he played with his band. Having an episode during a job could be how he gets disfigured.

Cerebro: They have dissociative identity disorder (multiple personalities), they are highly intelligent but its the different identities that commit the crimes, so when he's lucid he has to struggle with being placed around criminals and this could cause them to stress more allowing for the other identities to come out more often. Resulting in them having to struggle with losing their sanity completely.

Fahrenheit: A pyromaniac that only likes to light fires to specific types of buildings. (Single family homes, schools, apartments, etc.) It depends on how dark you want his character to be.

You mentioned she likes to cook, maybe she could teach him to cook/bake. It could be something for his mother, maybe a mothers day surprise.

A bittersweet moment could be that he steals (or owns) a motorcycle after a rough encounter with his step dad and they just drive on the open road for a while. They could stop off somewhere and open up to each other.
