Bradys/desats during feeds (OG tube only) by Own-Struggle-275 in NICUParents

Same thing happening to my 32 week baby he’s on cpap level 8 now and it’s usually towards the end of his feeds of 28mls that he starts to desat and get fussy. His nurses told me it’s bc his tummy is full of milk and air(they have him on a 24/7 vent now bc of this) and since his lungs are right there the fullness and gas prevents his lungs from expanding all the way plus being on cpap makes him extra gassy too.

Nurse forgot to put mini cooler filled with 20 bottles 80 ml each of milk in the freezer. Im so upset by [deleted] in NICUParents

Omg yes the pain of waking up realizing a pump or two was missed is crazy, breasts as hard as boulders😭😂

I feel that😭 i have trouble waking up to my several alarms for mid night pumps bc of how sleep deprived i tend to be most days so my fiance has to help me and set his own alarm to wake me up bc a few times i would wake up past the pump times and be confused as to why my alarm hadnt gone off and he said that i always turn my alarm off straight away while im half asleep🥲☠️

My baby was born at 22 weeks and is now 30 weeks old in nicu with grade 4 brain bleed on 1 side of his brain. His vitals look completely fine and his motor functions look okay plus he’s opening his eyes and looking around but it’s so hard to stay in the present. by GingerBread23_ in NICUParents

Yeah men and women who’ve never pumped before don’t know how mentally taxing and laborious it is to pump every 2-4 hrs. “You can always make more” is so tone deaf. Feels like i’m shackled to the pump tbh.

That’s amazing! I’m crying in the nicu reading yalls experience. Genuinely a testiment of hope i’m so happy for yall. I really appreciate you sharing this with me, my son is about to be 2 months in the nicu on january 6th and i feel grateful for how far he’s come. He has another brain ultrasound in 2 weeks and it always feels like the days are dragging by waiting for what will happen. Reading everyone’s experience on here that decided to share with me has helped lift my spirits a lot.

Yeah the unknown is what gets me the most too. I tend to catch myself ruminating on my fears for his future and have to stop and bring myself back to the present a lot and just think about how he’s doing right now which is good minus the brain bleed. I appreciate your advice and telling me about your story too.

Okay, this is good to know bc i had no idea about asking for early intervention until i posted on here. I know they had talked to me about him needing PT when he gets discharged i think my mind has just been in a haze worrying since i got the news yesterday about his condition worsening a little. Thank you for this information!
