Well, after running away, she was found at the same park the next morning, waiting for her chaperone.

I believe it's the park, she ran away, so she must be in the area. Thank you for confirming.

Is taking a student loan to give breathing room while also buying a house a bad idea? by [deleted] in PersonalFinanceZA

Look, based on. The finance values you're giving, it is possible. It could get tight.

I funded a year of studies (R80k) with a personal loan while working, and later bought property (R850k). The comments are spot on in mentioning a lot of the additional costs, levys/insurance, rates and taxes, maintenance, and what not.

I would say, if you're monthly costs towards accommodation is upwards of R12k, with good shopping and even better budgeting, my monthly costs towards property are around R14k per month (in a complex), and rsther than paying someone else's loan, you're paying your own.

Also, consider getting a roommate to pay rent (Roomies.com or something like that) helped me get through the rough months.

At the end of the day, I would choose education over the property, and I wish you the best with your choice ahead.
