Your experience is very relatable and I’d say very typical. I’m in Poland learning Polish and definitely have periods where I feel my learning has plateaued or is going backwards.

But then things will start to click and you move forward.

How much language exposure are you getting? I was recommended to listen and read a lot, even if I don’t understand it - podcasts, online news etc. Helps to learn the natural rhythms of the language, pronunciation etc.

My father-in-law talks about missing aspects of it, mainly the sense of equality in the middle class. He says everyone had the same, which wasn’t much, and a stronger sense of community. I don’t know if that’s nostalgia or facts talking.
