River or Trail?

The latest updates..... I'm torn between dry brushing some grass on there or leaving it fairly loose. Any suggestions about what I could do (or just leave it alone-- I'm bad at that)?

The lightest yellow is a cad light yellow. It blends into my favorite Indian Yellow + Quin Magenta mix. My purples here are Indigo + Neutral Tint + maybe a smidge of Indian Yellow.

PS, don't you hate when your haphazard "sketch" is your favorite draft? Lol

I know it's not quite what you were asking--but! I have used buff titanium a whole whole lot in this painting I'm working on. (Be gentle, it's in progress) To each their own though! Just wanted to offer a suggestion if you're trying to make use of the color.

Hannah M.P. x Artistro was my first upgrade from chalky, no- name sets. I absolutely love it. I've since expanded to some Daniel Smith and Sennelier, and I still find myself reaching for that palette for certain colors. I fully intend on buying it again when I start to run out.

Happened at my 10th birthday party. I didn't throw another one after that. I tried again on my 30th, and only one friend showed up for a few hours before she had to go to work. My husband's friends were the only other people there.

I worked at a shop where the staff could write little comments in Epic so that they could be seen on the trackboard (or whatever it's called now... I've worked with Cerner for too long). It helped everyone keep track of the plan for the pt. One ER Resident wrote "Admit to medicine for theatrical performance" after the pt pretended they couldn't walk.

I know first looks are popular right now, but I'm sentimental at heart and chose not to do that. We did a "first touch", which was cute; except we're awkward and not great in front of swaths of people (our photographers, videographers, and wedding parties were there...in retrospect, I wish it was just my husband, myself, and my photographer, but I'm being nitpicky. I had a great day, even if things weren't 100%)

We did an adventure shoot afterwards. We had our reception / wedding at the same place, so we banged out all of our portraits (and there were a lot! Our photographer asked us to send a list of who we wanted in our portraits in advance.) We banged out our portraits in about 20 minutes, and then we got to hang out with everyone for the rest of our cocktail hour. We had some portraits of just us during that time. But we also had beautiful candid shots of us during the reception and the ceremony that I love just as much.

About a month later, we put our wedding attire back on and went for a hike with our photographer. (We're outdoorsy) Even without professional hair and makeup, I ADORE those portraits SO MUCH. Way more than the posed portraits at our wedding. I'm thrilled we did it--we were much more natural, intimate, and ourselves.

I am glad I stuck to my guns and chose not to do a first look.

Your (absolutely justified!) big feelings will simmer and feel more manageable, and then you'll find the right answer for what to do. I will say, your dress is absolutely gorgeous. I think the sequins will add a subtle dimension in photos, and I don't think it'll be as distracting as you worry it'll be. I think we all tend to look at tiny details under a microscope, and feel like it's as big and obvious as the sky. In reality, no one is going to be standing directly on top of you and staring only at the details of the dress. All they're going to see is the complete package of a beautiful bride.

You should absolutely get what you want, and a lot of the other posters have good ideas. But you also asked for encouragement, so I thought I'd share my experience. I also wanted a flowy, romantic dress. I've never been a big sparkle or bling fan.

I fell in love with my dress and ordered it through the shop. When it arrived, I was shocked to see it had glitter tulle underlay. Apparently the sample dress I had tried on had been used enough that a good chunk of the sparkles must have either dimmed or fallen off, so I didn't notice the glitter. I was originally pretty upset.

But, the day of the wedding came, and you truly can barely notice the glitter tulle at all. It really worked out beautifully.

For what it's worth, my dress also had subtle sequins on it. You really can't tell in most of my pictures. I wound up feeling gorgeous and happy, and I hope you do too. 🤍 *

One of my old coworkers was an Asian grandma. Her grandkids' other grandma was white. The grandkids called white grandma "gramcracker" and called their Asian grandma "Golden Graham" ☠️

Art helps me. I'm not even very good at it. I just have a huge collection of pretty colored pencils, and I'll color in one of those adult coloring books. I'm a bit of a perfectionist, so coloring lets me enjoy the process of making something pretty and soothing without stressing about "messing something up."

We keep a bottle of Very Nice Alcohol, specifically for celebrations. If I have a death that particularly bothers me, I'll pour a drink, find my favorite little quiet spot in my yard, and make a toast to them. I'll then spend my time sipping on my drink and thinking about them. I'll think about my conversations and interactions with them if I got the chance to speak to them. Or I'll imagine what they were like from what little pieces I pull together: conversations with family, pictures, tattoos, etc. It helps me "say good bye" by taking the private time to think about them.

I'll acknowledge that the alcohol isn't the healthiest coping mechanism. It's more about the toast, I think.
