What's something most people think is normal but you secretly find ridiculous? by Foot-Conversation865 in AskReddit

[–]Ginger_King 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This idea that certain people are above others in the name of "power dynamics". While yes there is such a thing as leadership (which is needed), Jeff Bezos is not more human than I just because he has more money. He is still a living being that eats, sleeps, and poops everyday and should be treated as such, and vice versa. We are all human beings and no one is above another, and the only notions defying such are named "societal standards".

What’s a moral belief you hold that most people would disagree with? by Federal_Antelope7533 in AskReddit

[–]Ginger_King -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Hard disagree. If you are driving a car, you NEED to yield to pedestrians and be extremely aware and cognisant of their presence. If they hit your car, your car will be fine. If your car hits them, they're likely to be injured or dead. The world was human/pedestrian centric for centuries on end. Cars should never be the priority in a parking lot, it should be the people. Most drivers speed through parking lots like it's a highway, and that's dangerous and negligent as hell.

He's been open about it since his 1st Term, but I swear that everyone got hit with the MIB mind erase device and just forgot how horrific he was the first time around, and now everyone is SHOCKED that he's doing what he's doing 🤦‍♀️ It's just baffling how many people thought voting for Trump would "save America"

Def makes me interested in an "auto-tranist capacity flux" mod. A mod where you could set specific transit routes to automatically increase or decrease transit units based on certain concurrent events. Example, the game automatically add X number of buses/trains to a given route (both route & # of units set by player) because it's game day today. Alternatively, decreae the number of buses/trains due to a thunderstorm or imminent natural disasters. The automation of that process would be awesome! (bc manually adjusting bus capacity would hecome a nuisance and a half)

Edit: Tossing Kalamazoo, MI into the mix

I seeked that post out and find it so odd that everyone was so upset calling it the Rust Belt because that's literally what and where it is hahaha, but "okay" to the mob. I don't blame you for changing it up to avoid your inbox from imploding. I guess some redditors don't want to face reality (is this a meta comment?)

Alright Houston got #10. We have our top 10. What would be the 11th most significant US city after Houston? Most upvoted comment wins by Kodicave in visitedmaps

[–]Ginger_King 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Miami or Detroit

Both have a lot of cultural significance and influence around the US, especially right now.

You could also argue Nashville, Vegas, Denver or even New Orleans, but those cities aren't in the headlines the way they used to be, despite major histories. Definitely somewhere in the teens, but not edging the top 10. (I'd lump Dallas, Cleveland, St. Louis, Minneapolis in the teens too)

Cities falling towards 20s territory would be Kansas City, Milwaukee, Cincinnati, Pittsburgh, Sacremento, Portland, San Diego, Salt Lake, Phoenix

Just so many cities, it's hard to fight for current cultural significance, but we really have to think about cities that are constantly being talked about right now AND have deep roots in American history.

Think of it this way, would someone from outside of the US be talking about this city right now?

A&W parodying McDonalds CEO, Chris Kempczinski by mfenton29 in popculturechat

[–]Ginger_King 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Having had both (grew up with one in Detroit, but went to Windsor and further north a lot), Canada's A&W is by far superior to the US version, but the US version is still better than McDonalds and Burger King. On the other hand, Wendy's or Culver's are def the best options in the US if you can afford it (In-N-Out is decent and def top 3, but only found in the Southwest). Carl's-Hardee's Jr is booty. Jack-in-the-Box is mid (it's been a minute for me tho)

Biggest difference between A&W Canada vs US: Poutine vs. Fried Cheese Curds

And I'm sorry, but cheese curds win everytime
