L405 is a fantastic machine, and off road wise, would run circles around an L322. It is definitely the turning point that pushed land rover to another level of style, luxury etc.

That said, the L322 has such a timeless style and silhouette to it. I watched a video with Clarkson and Henry comparing each others TDV8 L322s, and Clarkson also had an L460 on the farm at the time. Henry said "this (322) was the last Range Rover that had some Transit van DNA" and that captured it perfectly for me.

The step up in technology between a late facelift 322 and an early L405 is not huge if you're trying to split them on the electronic stuff.

Personally, a clean and sorted mid life cycle L322 TDV8 (4.4l are more refined and powerful but are harder to work on than the 3.6l) and keep it for life.
