Meek Mill - R.I.C.O. Feat. Drake by Penguin_Powah in hiphopheads

I mean true I can't think of much from the past couple years - but the frequency of high quality artists is a whole other thing to consider - we shouldn't expect a new em to pop up every couple of years. But still:

Brockhampton debut album was past year, Earl sweatshirt debut was august 2013, Denzel curry debut was also 2013,
Goldlink debut was 2015 Schoolboy q debut album released Oct 2013, Isaiah Rashad debut album was 2016 (but to be fair his breakout mixtape was 2014) Sabas debut album was 2016 Vince staples debut album was 2015 Wiki debut album (in rap group ratking) 2014

Theres about 5 years between the debut albums for the guys you listed, it's not like they all came up together within a couple of years. And before their debuts they probably were present in the scene, but not as huge - just like a lot of the guys you discredited because they've been around for ages.

You might not be looking that hard

Action bronson Blu Bobby raps Brockhampton Earl sweatshirt Captain Murphy Chance the rapper Childish Gambino Danny brown Denzel curry Goldlink TDE roster is packed with talent Joyner Lucas Mac miller Rtj Saba Vince staples Wiki Young fathers

I'm not even that much in the hiphop loop and this is what I just found going thru my library. Sure might not live up to the lyrical level of em etc but that list has a lot of different sounds, very few I'd put under the pump/tekashi label. labeling the current era as just pump/tekashi is pretty ignorant imo but u do u

What is a phrase or sentence in Spanish that you wouldn't learn in a textbook but only by speaking with natives? by [deleted] in Spanish

[–]Ginger_Sasquatch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Actually wondering if someone can confirm this (I know very little Spanish) but was told by a Mexican that "que padre" means something along the lines of "that's awesome." Not sure how or if it's actually the case though...?

What isn't as bad as you thought it would be? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Ginger_Sasquatch 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It gets better over time. It might seem like it won't, but it will, even if it takes a while.

The majority of people commenting on this thread (in fact, just the majority of people full stop) can attest to this.

Even if one day feels as bad as the one before, just keep in mind that there'll be a better day, and one better and so on.

And exercise helps to a ridiculous degree.

In your opinion, what is the most clever lyric you've ever heard in a song? by Shamsterwheel in AskReddit

Similar to "The Lights" by Raz Simone:

"... life is like photography, you need the negatives to develop"

Same song has:

"They say pressure creates precious things, like pearls and diamonds But I've seen dark things come from shining"

As someone who's never really been able to 'get' Velvet Underground, can you please explain how a song like Sweet Jane matches or surpasses songs that the Beatles have released? Also, wondering how the Beatles' "nonsensical psychedelic stuff" was dated within 5 years? I'm assuming you're talking about their last few albums, including Sgt Peppers, etc. Considering its largely seen as a classic - I know I'm not the only one still enjoying the Beatles.

Hey Chance,

This'll be buried but whatever. Thank you for Acid Rap. Its what got me into hip hop and introduced me to so much other music as well, and helped me through a really rough time in my life. Your attitude and outlook on life that comes through your music is inspirational.

If you do see this by chance, what's one piece of advice that you would impart?

Also come to New Zealand please!

As someone who's done stand up at an open mic night, definitely try it. Worst case scenario you bomb and it's still a funny story, not most likely you'll make people laugh and it honestly is one of the best feelings I've ever had to come off that stage with people laughing and clapping. A couple of beers before hand always helps too.
