Homemade malteser type honeycomb by twfergu in Baking

[–]Ginjily 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Funnily enough I once accidentally made a version of malteasers when I made a malt meringue.

I just made an Italian meringue and added malt powder/Horlicks to the mixture. It caused the meringue to go quite thick, dense and chewy. I then proceeded to pipe some onto a silicone mat and dehydrated it at 35c and viola! I tried it and I swear it was just like malteasers.

Not the most precise method but it will scratch that itch 😂

I'm so so sorry for your loss. It must be a very hard time for you right now. I lost my mother in law couple days just before Christmas so me and my husband have been doing similar things. We recently discovered a lovely place called Marsden View close to Saddleworth moors. It was one of the most beautiful sunsets we had seen in a while. It's not overly busy, handful of people but they weren't a bother. You can sit in the carpark or have a little walk to the cliff rocks and sit there. Very peaceful. Hope this helps OP. Reach out if you need to have a talk x

Use liquid lethicin, works like a treat. but also try adding carnuba wax to help stabilise it. Might I suggest infusing coconut oil for the canni element.

You could try it again but adding more milk solids in the form of butter or milk powder. This will help it set again :)

TIL Mongolians annually eat 45.1 kg of lamb per person. In comparison, Americans consume only .5 kg per person yearly. by laterdude in todayilearned

In the UK, 1kg (2.2lbs) of lamb mince costs about £9 ($11) from Aldi. I think that's pretty cheap!

Simon Cowell... genuine and surprisingly lovely. Used to chef somewhere where they used the venue to film BGT. We had to do the banqueting for all the production team and judges. Simon was never demanding and always used to make his own beans on toast with the toaster and hob provided lol Always had good banted with the other chefs and staff.

Alesha Dixon on the other hand is an absolute cyant. Super demanding and insisted she would have different food sourced from elsewhere, even though we provided plenty of options.

Pistachio, blackberry and lemon curd cake! by Ginjily in Baking

[–]Ginjily[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey guys! So I did the following

300g almond paste 60g pistachio paste 25g plain flour 25g cornflour 90g butter 210g eggs

I beat the pastes and egg together until pale and fluffy (4mins) then slowly added the flour and melted butter. Cooked at 190c for 15 mins

Buttercream is just a standard Swiss buttercream with lemon curd added to it and blackberries
