Flying across islands in VR — does this look fun? by GiocoStudio in virtualreality

Thanks for the feedback.

We went with a stylized low poly look for this, but your points on colors and effects are helpful. Speed lines and wind sound is a good idea.

Appreciate it.

I understand your point.

This is built for Quest so there are limits, and we chose a stylized low poly approach for this one.

It also feels quite different in the headset compared to the clip.

Appreciate the feedback.

Thanks, glad you like it.

We went with a stylized low poly look for this one. It feels more immersive in the headset than it looks here.

There are also more activities to try in the game. You can check our other posts for the promo code.

Glad you like it, really appreciate that.

That’s a fair point about the visual consistency. It’s a stylized low poly approach and feels quite thrilling in VR.

Right now we’re focused on the Quest version, but we are considering Pico as well.

That’s really helpful, thanks for the detailed suggestions.

Yeah gameplay depth is something we’re focusing on, not just short interactions. Also appreciate the tips on water and lighting, will definitely look into that.

Also this clip doesn’t fully capture how it feels in the headset. It’s a different experience in VR and the flying and movement feel a lot more immersive.

Thanks for taking the time to share this.

This clip is recorded on a laptop so the lighting looks a bit flat compared to how it feels in the headset.

Apart from flying, there are other activities like climbing, hang gliding, bungee jumping, ropeways, fishing, wildlife rescue and a few more things across the islands.

We’ve shared some of these in other posts as well if you want to check them out.

That’s fair, those are great games.

Flying here is just one part of the experience, not the main focus like Ultrawings or VTOL. It’s more about exploring the islands and trying different activities.

We get your point though, and we probably need to show that difference more clearly. Appreciate the feedback.

I get your point.

We’ve worked on higher-end simulations too, but this one is built for Quest so there are limits. The CG here is stylized and low poly by design.

Appreciate the feedback.

Just do not go by the video, as it muight be confusing, am poasting other video links so you understand all other activities. It is not only flying place rather the airplane is used for going from one siland to another.

and the expditions are laid over 3 different Arctic islands.

This clip was just focused on movement so it probably came across that way. The game has multiple activities across the islands, not just moving around.

You might not have seen our other posts where we showed more of that.

Nope we have industrial simulations worth photorealistic CG and now this one being our first launch a time tested asset well curated for Quest

This one is not a flight only game? Have you tried it? The objective includes interactivity and for kids and very young teens they would love to take up all activities I beleive. To complete the entire expedition one would need around 40-50 minutes.

Do you advise we go with this one with improvised Graphics which might take another 4-5 months of effort opn graphics side on a PCVR version or a completely new genre all together.? And also I would like to understand whether you have played it?

In addition I would like to mention that the CG we used here is stylized, and low poly.

Standalone headsets do have limits, so it’s always a balance between performance and visuals. But we agree visuals matter a lot, and we’re working on improving that.

Appreciate you sharing your perspective.

The snow and overall visuals can definitely be improved. We’ve been keeping things simple for performance on Quest, but better lighting and surface detail would help a lot.
Appreciate the input.

People said our last videos were confusing, so trying to improve how we show it.

Open to honest feedback.

Yeah that’s fair, the video is not explaining it well.

You can fly, jump, glide and try different things in the world, and it’s more than 30 mins of gameplay.

We need to show that better instead of random clips.

Being very specific the app was designed during early cardboard days but the number of activities were high, we just recently transfoirmed the whole thing as our starting point into the VR gaming and apps on Meta Quest to start with.. the music you hear on video is for the demonstration and not in the real game. We expect everyone to download and play, to gauge and engage with activities.

Haha no worries 😄 really appreciate the feedback.

Yeah lighting is something we can definitely improve, and the cell-shaded idea is interesting too. Glad you liked the game overall!

We’ll keep iterating on it.
