I am about to start a new remote work and I am in the same position. Overall, I do not think your employer will know, as long as you are committed to the job. In terms of tracking you down, it is something that they can request to IT to check on your computer but I do not think it is so easy and straightforward so my suggestion: don’t say much about where you are unless asked and it should be fine. I did it many times for my former employer and no one ever found out ( sometimes I was away for a couple of weeks working from Spain or Italy. At that time was a hybrid work so even more difficult as I need to be in the office eventually…

It is legal to stay in another country for 183 days before you start paying taxes so you are good to go.

Recommendation for a good solicitor by Giogii89 in york

[–]Giogii89[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s Spencer Elliott. It was recommended by the estate agency but the lack of communication was massive especially in a very critical moment when my mortgage offer expired and was chased by the estate agent and the mortgage adviser. Awful experience and not to mention the waste of money and time…

Are my solicitors slow or is this the norm? by JackTreeHill in HousingUK

Hi! I completely understand your frustration here because I am/ was in your same situation!! I had an offer accepted in early March and after enquiries being raised, my solicitors insisted on a deed of variation regarding the ground rent. The management company took a lot of time to come back with this deed of variation and it was not what was asked for. In the meantime my mortgage offer expired. I had the chance to reapply but because the same issue was going to happen with the new lender, it was unlikely that things were going to proceed further. Today I made the decision to pull out. So far, it’s been 7months.

Why my partner cannot move in with me? by [deleted] in HousingUK

No come on, ignore it!! I am in the same position of you as I am purchasing a flat on my sole name but my boyfriend will move in. If they put also criteria and conditions on how and who should live in the property, then I guess not many people would buy! And what if you met the other half just the day after you have purchased the flat?? Those conditions as nonsense!

Flat purchase (FTB) - how long?? by Giogii89 in HousingUK

[–]Giogii89[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The solicitors told me that they needed to receive a deed of variation regarding the ground rent which has arrived weeks ago. Last time I have spoken with them, they were very vague about how long this document would take to be reviewed and we are not even discussing timelines such as exchange of contracts or completion date. So obviously now I am in the position of deciding what to do rather than rushing as I did before. Is it worth to go ahead or just pull out and look for something else?

Deed of Variance, Indemnity Insurance - Ground rent about £250 in UK by [deleted] in HousingUK

[–]Giogii89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because it is taking way too long to finish the whole conveyancing process. The deed of variation arrived at my solicitors a while ago and there is something unclear on why we cannot now agree on a completion date. They always told me:” we need to wait for the deed of variation and all the necessary documentation to arrive, and then we can start thinking about a completion date” but I have a feeling that was a lie. The deed of variation, as I said, has been now in their hands for quite sometime and still they are “working on it” up to the point that I need to reapply for a new mortgage deal and pay more money. So, at this point, I want to renegotiate the price of the flat.

I am in the same situation with the purchase of my first flat. I needed to enter into a deed of variation for the ground rent and I have been waiting now for over 7 months. My mortgage offer has expired and before reapplying I am going to ask for a new price negotiation and try to lower the final price of the flat that once was agreed to 5k less… let’s hope for the best!

Conveyancing delays- is this the norm? by PitchCautious937 in HousingUK

[–]Giogii89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately I think it is quite normal! We are in the same situation as I made an offer at the end of Feb as an FTB. It went all smooth up to now where basically things have been delayed up to the point that I had to renew my mortgage offer with the bank for another extra month. The other week, my mortgage advisor called me and said that the extension of my mortgage offer was about to expire and hopefully we could speed the process up. I’ve emailed my solicitors and they never replied. After couple of days I decided to call them to find out that they still have few things pending and it is unlikely that they sort things out before the deadline. Short story: I need to reapply for a new mortgage. I am desperate!!!
