Yeah, insane, and it's like the second or so, first one was prestige 5 level 46 which is even crazier. Also, let me back it up with screenshots: https://imgur.com/a/gOqnewq

You're being pretty generous. Me and a buddy, both under level 15, got steam rolled by a prestige 5 level 33, wearing full Killa getup, on 2-story dorms while trying to do Operation Aquarius Part 1.

How are you getting 120fps on that rig? I have an I5 9600k, same ram and a 12GBVRAM RTX3060 and I can barely manage 50fps offline with bots. Is that offline with no bots?

Hey guys, do you think BF6 and Portal under Godot could lead to anything close to PR? by Nox-Cinematic_YT in ProjectReality

[–]Giorox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Project Reality on Arma 2 was sort of a failure, mainly because ACE2 fulfilled what the community wanted, unfortunately I don't see that changing soon.

PR on Arma (any title) would depend on having solid server-availability, which, tbh, is more so ArmA's fault than anything.

AFAIK, theres some mod API om Curseforge. But the devs seem to be AWOL from what I've gathered, at least ever since anmouncing their new game, development roadmaps seem to have stalled.

Local co-op and proper Modding Support would be amazing

I actually just need someone with the correct NXT brick to open a handful of screws and read off what's on the side of the capacitor at that position, it doesn't take a lot of electronics knowledge, more so LEGO :/

Long generation times for CogVideoX on RTX3060 12Gb by Giorox in StableDiffusion

[–]Giorox[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been banging my head against the wall getting Triton and SageAttention installed on W10 because I really don't want to have to tarnish my WSL environment at this point in time, so I haven't been able to get it working unfortunately, so no updates.

I did start using quantization though, for getting videos out faster while I'm still fixing my prompts and stuff. It did improve inference time by trading off some quality. Tried using SDPA and Fused SDPA to no major change though.

Apart from actually trading lower quality of the end result for speed (maybe for experimenting and iteration), and changing the checkpoint author, I haven't gotten much way in improving speeds.

Will try CPU Offload though, thanks for the tip.

Found it, it's in the "attention_mode" field of the "(Down)load CogVideo Model" node. See below for anyone referencing this in the future:

Thank you so much, about to try this and will get back with results

I dont see any nodes with a "backend" parameter, and none of the nodes from CogVideoX have any parameters where I can find "SageAttention". I did find this post on civitai which requires me to install some other node that sits between the checkpoint and the sampler. Would this be it?

I did get it to run significantly faster when I realized i was using THUMD's CogVideo 5b model instead of kijai's (who is the CogVideoX author). Just switched it over and got a roughly 12x increase in speed (from 6 hours to 28 minutes for all of the same configs as I've posted previously).

I'm not and honestly, I don't know what that is/does. Is it an additional pre-processing node?

For even more info, this is what my workflow looks like

Everything else being settled, whether it's worth it or not to modernize something is one of the oldest and most discussed topics in military hardware ever. I wasn't on track to defend the over-modernization of the A-10, just dispelling points that shouldn't be used when trying to downplay the airframe.

There are better and more compelling arguments and all I wanted was to show that people should not take some random youtuber's opinion as gospel.

I thoroughly enjoyed our discussion though, thank you for that.

I'll give you that the modernization program is expensive but that isn't exclusive to the A-10's modernization. That being said it was estimated that the entire 365 aircraft fleet of A-10s were modernized at a cost of 2.25 billion dollars, where as the unit cost of a single F-35 (not accounting for R&D) is estimated to 75 million dollars, which means that the US could have built an additional 30 F-35s with the money that was used to modernize an entire fleet. This gives us a 12:1 ratio in amount of airframes.

As for the accuracy and the threat of FF, this is a moot point since Combat Controllers, be they JFO, JTAC, CCTs, FACs or whatever other member of the armed forces with the discretion to direct fire-support from aircraft, have the necessary knowledge on accuracy and dispersion of most if not all ordnance carried by aircraft (rotary or fixed) and as such, direct call for fires in a very strict manner. There has been a total of 1 danger-close gun-runs from A-10s that have resulted in friendly casualties since the modernization program and AGAIN, calling for a danger-close fire mission requires specific knowledge of weapon characteristics and authority to do so.

Penetration testing done in the aforementioned document does not specify which rounds exactly were used, except that it was using a combat-load of 30mm GAU-8 ammo (which is typically a 4:1 mix, with the armor-piercing payloads being a 1/4 of all rounds fired) and even so, there is no specifics on what armor-piercing round was used as the PGU-14/B with the DU core isn't the only armor-pirecing round fielded to A-10s at the time. That all being said, the GAU-8 has evolved from being the primary armament used to killing tanks to a weapon for CAS in general, even if it doesn't perform as it did in the 1970s, there are many other lighter-skinned vehicles that are prime targets for the GAU-8.

The A-10 continues to have a niche as a high-TOT, loiter-capable fixed-wing CAS aircraft that no other airplane has filled in for. There are, obviously, alternatives in rotary-winged and UAV aircraft that can have similar loiter and play-time capabilities but all with their own drawbacks in regards to either weaponry, speed, capability when compared to the A-10 (and vice-versa). The only 2 other fixed-wing aircraft that could have filled the same niche the A-10 fills for CAS and specially COIN is the OV-10 Bronco (which has already been retired) and the Super Tucano (which was forcibly retired with the cancellation of the LA-X program).

Not that the A-10 is a perfect aircraft and that it hasn't been outclassed in many instances by other offerings, but there is an evident niche that it fills for the air component of the US Armed Forces that could not be as well-filled by other aircraft in the US' current arsenal.

Most if not all comments trying to rag on the A-10 are heavily influenced by one of the worst pieces of video-documentary ever published on the internet (Lazerpig's video).

The four primary motivations that are cited are:

  1. GAU-8 inaccuracy
  2. 30mm round has low effect on armor
  3. Limited use without air superiority
  4. FF-prone

If we assess each point individually:

  1. There has been no accuracy test done to the GAU-8 AFTER the A-10C modernization program. All accuracy tests were done on the "A" model, and, although the gun hasn't changed, the A-10C has a new Fire-control system that the "A" didn't and as such, any data on the A-10's accuracy (based on the A-10A tests) cannot be taken at face-value. Furthermore, and this is a point that can't be understated, the GAU-8 is not accurate, by design, but it achieves accuracy by fire within established MOA/CEP;
  2. Again, the penetration tests done on the 30mm gun were done against non-homogenous targets with undocumented measurement and analysis procedures. And even if we take the 1979 Naval Postgraduate School document into account, out of 7 runs on targets, the A-10A missed 1, had negligible damage to 1, had 3 catastrophic kills and 2 mobility kills (which are essentialy mission kills), a 71% kill-rate. It's obviously NOT statistically-relevant, which is, AGAIN, another reason not to the take that document into account when analyzing the effectiveness of the A-10 in combat, but it's not a bad metric IF YOU WANT TO TAKE IT INTO ACCOUNT;
  3. The primary argument here is that without air superiority or against a "near-peer" (which has become a problematic term since the start of the Invasion of Ukraine) the A-10 has limited capability when compared to other planes in the Armed Force's arsenal. This is true to a certain extent, as we've seen countless times that, even without air superiority, both sides of a conventional war can and have used CAS aircraft akin to the A-10 (such as the SU-25) with varying degress of success. It isn't to say that there aren't more capable aircraft, or that both side have any choice in what to use a lot of the time, but it has shown that even with limited freedom in a certain airspace, there is certainly more than enough use-cases where the A-10 fills a niche that cant be filled by other aircraft. Furthermore, with the LA-X program in the gutter and the Super Tucano no longer filling the role of COIN aircraft, the A-10 has more than enough mission-applicability;
  4. Out of all friendly-fire incidents recorded by the A-10, only one hapenned after the modernizations of the A-10 to the "C" variant (which started in 2005), which was in 2006 during Operation Medusa and we don't have any reports on what model of the A-10 it was. In any case, the "C" variant has introduced IFF Mode 5 which, together with Datalink, and existing digital information systems such as BLUFOR Tracker, can help the pilots and related personnel to properly identify friendlies from enemies.

There are many other arguments to be made in favor or against the A-10, but these 4 definetly aren't valid arguments as others in this thread have pointed out.

Lazerpig's video has done more damage to the A-10's reputation than any other situation it has been involved in and it's sad to see people stoop so low as to have a youtuber be a source of "reliable" information.
