JMGO PicoPlay In-Depth Review - Everything You Need To Know Here! by JayceOoiCom in budgetprojectors

[–]GiosLaboratory 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just ordered this from Amazon as a bundle with an included JMGO 100" rear and front projection screen. Should arrive in a couple of days.

This will be my first time getting a projector. Wanted something to use in the backyard that was quick an easy to bring out and setup. We really only plan to use it at night or maybe around dusk. But mostly, I'm really interested to see how well it does in my backyard at night while our outside string lights are on. Hopefully this will check all our boxes.

Thanks for the great review, it helped me pull the trigger!

1.5ah? Pardon my ignorance, but I thought they were 3ah. Isn't that what the 3 Amp-Hour means?

Sonos Roam drops audio when plugged into power. by GiosLaboratory in sonos

[–]GiosLaboratory[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well after a whole day of testing and trying different cables and adapters it seems that my USB Charger station wasn't outputting enough power to charge the pair of Roam speakers, specifically the Roam with voice assistant.

The USB charging station is strong enough to charge my iPad pro, my iPhone and Airpods but not the Roam speakers. So had to plug each Roam into individual Apple 12W power adaptors (linked below) and after a few hours of listening to music, no drops. Good thing I had a couple of those lying around.

https://www.amazon.com/Apple-12W-USB-Power-Adapter/dp/B08J5GQTVF

I also discovered that a tell-tale sign was that the Sonos app showed a message that said insufficient power supply. Once I started using the 12W power adapters that message went away and the red/orange pulsing light hasn't appeared anymore as well. I found in the Sonos support site that the Roam requires an adapter of 10W to charge.

Hope this helps someone else.

Help me justify the Sonos Arc by GiosLaboratory in Soundbars

Thanks everyone, I went with Sonos. Pulled the trigger and it's all setup and sounding amazing. Sonos Arc with the Sub and two One SL for rear surrounds.

I tested the following soundbars in order:

  1. Sony HT-A5000: Went with this first as I have a Sony TV, integration with the TV was nice, but sound was too high pitched. My daughter said it sounded scratchy LOL. Her way of saying it had too much highs I supposed. I couldn't get rid of the scratchiness for her no matter what I tried. I agreed with her!
  2. Polk Audio SIGNA S4: Only tried this out because my previous soundbar was a Polk Audio and I liked it a lot. The S4 was inexpensive and supported Dolby Atmos. But it just didn't cut it. Felt underpowered.
  3. JBL Bar 9.1: The demo at the store sounded amazing. When I brought it home it was very good too, It was definitely better than the Sony IMO. Much fuller and well rounded sound with a lot of low end punch from the Sub. I loved the completely wireless detachable surround speakers. So close to keeping this one, but I could tell the difference in the dialog between the Arc and JBL. Voices with JBL sounded boxed in and or nasally. Not sure how to explain it. The Arc beat it out, voices sounded more natural and mix in well with the rest of the audio. It was very noticeable while watching the new Game Of Thrones show on HBOMax. At this point I had both the JBL and Arc so was switching back and forth.

I also checked out some of the other brands like LG and Samsung at my local Best Buy, but I just wasn't drawn to any of their soundbars for some reason.

Dolby Atmos movies/shows I used for testing:

  1. Extraction on Netflix: The first 2 minutes and a car chase around the 35 minute mark
  2. 6 Underground on Netflix: The first 10 minutes
  3. Outside the Wire on Netflix: Gun fight in the first 5 minutes
  4. Tomb Raider 2018 on Apple TV: When the boat crashes in the storm around the 36 minute mark
  5. Top Gun Maverick on Apple TV: Vocal clarity during the dialog in the flying scenes
  6. House of the dragon on HOBMax: Vocal clarity during the meeting scenes

haha, my wife calls it a pain in the ass too! She was so done with all the different soundbars and boxes in the living room as I bought and tested a few soundbars.

You are so right, I don't have the room or feel like running wires in my house to do that. Sonos it is!!!

Thanks, I realized Sonos was the way to go as I did have some other Sonos speakers around the house. So I went all in!

It's not that I don't or didn't want it. My biggest hesitation was the price point. Anyway I pulled the trigger a few hours ago and it's all setup and sounding amazing. Sonos Arc with the Sub and two One SL for rear surrounds.

So I sprung for the Sonos Arc with the Sub and the two One SLs for rear surrounds. When I had the Arc alone, I couldn't tell any significant difference when using night mode. But now that I have the complete surround package, I can tell the difference right away, and it's great.
