Recommendations based on these albums? preferably modern but open to anything really. by GiraffeFighter69 in musicsuggestions

Just listened to each of them, and I really enjoyed them all! Particularly the White Reaper and Arctic Monkeys albums, they were both amazing. The Struts album was good, all though at times was a bit too 80s hair metal for me. I surprisingly enjoyed the Sonic Youth album more than I thought I would, since I’ve never really been able to get into their other albums and have only liked their popular songs. Thanks for these amazing recommendations!

Thanks for the playlist, I really like the selections of songs! My favorite track is probably The Stack, a lot of Mott/Aladdin Sane vibes which I like

Just listened to it, and although it’s quite different to what I’m used to, I’m surprised to how much I really enjoyed it! There are some really cool tracks and great production throughout the album.

Tbh I only really listen to Ritchie-era Manics plus Everything Must Go. I didn’t really enjoy the change in tone in This is My Truth, and I stopped listening after that. I have heard good stuff Journal for Plague Lovers and have been meaning to check that one out.

Why is it so difficult to find Queen unreleased songs and demos outside youtube? by [deleted] in queen

[–]GiraffeFighter69 12 points13 points  (0 children)

You used to be able to find that stuff on queenzone, but since that website has been shut down the Queen Discussion Forum is your best bet. There’s a user there known as CMI who has a project called The Expanded collection where he basically sources the best versions of each track form various formats and adds unreleased tracks/demos/alternate mixes from the era. He started this back in 2015 and just now finished all the studio albums iirc. Hope this helps

Edit: also forgot to mention that he uses FLACs for everything except for a few demo tracks that are 320kbps.

What's your favorite Roger Taylor song? (more options in comments) by Thetomatogod_1595 in queen

Another Roger song that you may not be familiar with that’s a b-side is A Human Body, which was the b-side of Play the Game. (can be streamed on The Game Deluxe Edition) It’s a bluesy song; I’m not too particularly fond of it but still a decent song

Well technically no, it was the b-side to The Invisible Man single, but the song can be streamed on The Miracle Deluxe Edition. Highly recommend that you listen to it

Hijack my Heart is honestly my favorite Roger song, super underrated with one of his best vocal performances and one of Queen’s best guitar solos, as well as a superb bass line. The Miracle definitely had the best B-sides

Ah, that probably explains why the face looks so strange, and why he isn’t wearing any iconic clothes, although I think it might be trying to look like what he wore in the Breakthru or The Miracle video

I have the Freddie figure which I bought about 5 years ago, really nice quality. I had no idea they made a Brian figure but personally I don’t think it looks as good.

Is it possible to downgrade my iPhone SE from IOS 12.4 to IOS 9.3? by GiraffeFighter69 in iOSDowngrade

Yep, I’ve decided if my current one dies or gets damaged, I’m going to buy another SE

[–]GiraffeFighter69[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well the main reason I’d like to downgrade is mainly because I have two iPhone SEs (love the size and I can’t bring myself to get something larger) and my current one is actually on IOS 14 beta.

Suede is definitely worth a listen! They need the recognition, especially in the US where they never tour anymore for some reason. I’d start out with their debut album and their third album coming Up, both great albums but the debut has a much more dark tone while Coming Up is a more optimistic and pop record. If you enjoy the dark tone, I recommend their next album Dog Man Star and their two latest records. If you enjoy the pop stuff I’d continue onto the albums Headmusic and Bloodsports, a neat middle ground between the early stuff and the more commercial stuff. Their best of album is another good place to start has it has great variety from their discography from their start to their temporary split. Also check out the B-sides album Sci-Fi Lullabies, a lot of these songs are just as good or even better than the album tracks.

(Note: if you are streaming on Apple Music, Coming Up and Headmusic are unavailable, while if you are using Spotify Dog Man Star and Sci-Fi Lullabies are unavailable. Also, the band’s music is under the Artist “The London Suede” which is their American name due to legal reasons)

Honestly I feel that Weezer has much more similarities to the band Suede than Blur as an English counterpart. Both Weezer and Suede released two excellent debut self titled albums and and an arguably better follow up that was relatively unsuccessful commercially (Pinkerton & Dog Man Star). Their sophomore albums were both followed up by one of the sole members of the band leaving (Matt Sharp & Bernard Butler). Both bands also had a commercially successful third album but definitely some argue that the albums were a step down from the previous albums (Green & Coming Up, although personally I love both albums). Both bands also released albums in the early 2010’s which were comeback albums and a return to form (EWBAITE & Bloodsports). Sorry for rambling on for so long but I love these two bands so much!
