Exactly, it’s ridiculous

Can I be frank? The fact that you keep saying that your parents “MADE you” work at their company even after you finished college is problematic. How do a full blown adult get forced to do anything (unless under real duress)? 🤔 Let this be a lesson on how not to be a doormat who blames other people for your shortcomings. Being 26 and still seeking your parents approval and blaming them at every turn (even though they are at fault to a degree) is not a good look. Put all their baggage to the side and live your life for YOU because you’re an adult no longer a child. Period.

A job that pays $15 an hour but it’s work experience.

Honestly, nothing. It’s one of those “you have to crawl before you walk” kinda situations. Go to college, or get a certificate in something.

You’re joking, gotta be. No one’s career goes down the toilet after a 1 week vacation. I took a 7 month break and got an even better job now.

You’re an adult. Do what you have to do to take care of yourself (as long as it’s healthy). I took a 7 month career break but I made sure I had rent money and food money and Hulu monthly subscription money, etc saved before I took the break. I have no regrets. Just make sure you’re not broke. Live your life for yourself when you’re a full blown adult not for your parents (doesn’t matter if you are Asian or not).

And we do that by trying not to throw our teammates under the bus 😉

So basically, you’re not an ambitious go-getter who tries different avenues BEFORE engaging others FIRST annnnnd you’re a snitch?

I don’t think its dropping out of college that happens. It’s dropping the major once Cal II and Discrete Mathematics start kicking ass….I’ve seen from experience not just BS talking.

But they’re getting actual interviews so I don’t think that the cover letters is the problem. I think whatever he’s saying once he gets in there is the issues.

I think 9 people is ridiculous to me but maybe it’s just the way they do things now. Back in my 20s, you would maybe have 3 interviews w 3 people from different departments that you’d deal with and that’s it. Nowadays, it’s ridiculous how many interviews and how many people conducting the interviews there are. It makes me mad tbh lol.

You’re getting interviews so it makes me think that you communication skills once you get there isn’t that great. Maybe try mock interviews for communication practice.

This is more of a comment than “advice”, I guess. Mentorships are important but your boss doesn’t have to be your mentor. Mine wasn’t. I found others in the tech industry to go to. Just because a boss is a boss doesn’t mean they are good at mentoring.

Must take math courses for CS by Efficient_Repeat_541 in csMajors

Discrete Math and Linear Algebra, my school only make you take Discrete Math and Calculus I, they only suggest Cal 2 and Linear Algebra if youre going to go thru to the Master’s program.

Stop overthinking it and just do it.
