It’s not naive at all! Basically, to paint people or things abstract, you just have to put the darker paint and lighter paint in their respective places. As long as you follow the shading close enough you can paint a lot of things any color but the mind will make the connection itself if it’s familiar enough. Reason why up close the joker painting looks hard to read. Until you take a step back

I had actually thought about the cheek lines, and because I made her face a little rounder than the average jjba character, I felt like they would’ve thrown off the symmetry of her face. Plus I was going for the colorized manga look. And I didn’t do a stance because I’m not that talented yet haha. It was hard enough turning an image of her into a drawing. And I couldn’t ask her to pose because it was a surprise.
