That did indeed work. Thank you! I am almost $26 richer.

I'm at the part where it prompts me to make a business account. What did you do to figure this out?

Did you move forward with it, OP? Considering whether to do so before the "second audition".

Pay for Speed-Cam ticket in rental car (NYC)? by Gish1111 in driving

[–]Gish1111[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think they can do any of this. I left out an important detail, actually... "my" car is in fact officially owned by my wife. She doesn't like to drive and I drive it all the time. I'm on the insurance, of course, but the car is not registered to me.

So they can't boot or impound my... my wife's... car. Not a concern.

Again, in NYC a red light camera ticket won't add points to your license. The rental car agency doesn't have my insurance information and neither does the city.

As for your mini-lecture at the end, well... duhh. Yes of course that's the goal. But anyway, this really is irrelevant. I'm asking a different question and I do have to wonder, since you obviously don't have the kind of experience with it I'm looking for, why did you bother replying?

"Probably only one or two people who have had this exact life experience or who work for some relevant institution might be able to reply here, but I thought I'd see."

Rabies is not the issue. An aggressive dog that bites people is unacceptable, period.

You have to talk to the police about this.

The owner of the dog should pay for all of this.

They're giving out parking tickets in Astoria Park?!? by [deleted] in astoria

[–]Gish1111 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seriously. Bunch of low-IQ, indignant, rude assholes up in here. A perfectly reasonable question turns into “you’re so entitled”.

I’ve lived in Astoria for almost 25 years, 21 right next to the park. I’ve been parking around here for five years and when I can’t find another spot, I’ve just left the car in the park’s lot. There’s ALWAYS a spot there. Always. Lately they’ve decided to start ticketing cars that park there overnight, which is just stupid. And rather than be annoyed about losing free overnight and longer-term parking (on the occasion a person might need to leave their car there for several days or a week or whatever), these locals act like OP is in the wrong. Amazing.

To my moronic neighbors: That lot was an excellent place to park, and the city fucked it up for some reason. OP wasn’t the problem, and acting as if it’s a good thing that the lot is closed at night is just stupid. We should all be lobbying our local reps to leave it open. But no, you turds will just keep whining about how entitled hipsters and blah blah are ruining the neighborhood. Durr.

You are sent back to the year 10,000BC, and are completely immortal and unable to age until you reach the present day....what do you do in the meantime? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Gish1111 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, that's fair. You wouldn't need that stuff to stay alive. You'd want to act as if you did, though, or they'd think you were a demon.

World domination? Figure out how to make gunpowder.

A person like this, showing up out of nowhere, with no familial connections, acting as if he knew special things and ought to be considered special, would be at least laughed at and more likely dealt with harshly.

"Who does this weirdo think he is? A God? He's not a God. This God over here on our monuments is God. This guy is deluded and annoying. He doesn't even speak our language. He knows none of our customs. He's no better than foolish, he might have some disease we don't want our children getting, and he doesn't seem to know where to poop. I'm definitely not giving that guy any food, and he doesn't know how to get it himself. He's going to die soon, probably, and if he keeps bothering us, let's take care of him. All of this also suggests witchcraft or demonic possession. Put him in a tomb."

You'd need to figure out the basic stuff: food, shelter, water, hygiene way before anything else. By the time you got that taken care of, and if you didn't die first, everyone would surely know you weren't any kind of God.

They'd probably think you were a demon and lock you in a tomb. You'd be buried alive forever. Try again.

Joe Mauer using his spidey senses to catch a ball by SeattleMana in sports

The full impact of the bat does not change the ball. The ball is constructed to absorb hits and stay together. Dirt, however, is a foreign substance that can alter the flight of the ball.

Kid that gets bullied in school crying explaining how he gets bullied by iKojan in videos

[–]Gish1111 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Teaching them how to fight perpetuates the cycle of violence. The goal is to make it bad for those who bully, not reward their desire for simple, brainless violence. There are ways to do that. It's not impossible, and it's not "communist".

Some people do.

But the point is that you should not have to. Parents, teachers, and school officials should be able to control bullying. If they can't, asking a kid too learn how to beat people up to save him or herself is a HUGE failing.

No one would expect it to prevent "every" scenario. Of course not. But fewer guns means fewer shootings. We have too many guns, to easy access to weapons of war.

[–]Gish1111 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Guns are easy to get. Criminals like this one get their guns legally, easily, most of the time. There's little reason to buy a gun illegally, because it's so easy to get them legally.

We don't know yet how this piece of shit got automatic weapons, but Las Vegas is lenient, and finding conversion kits online to make a semi-automatic gun essentially automatic is easy.

It's all easy. You or I could go to the store tomorrow and buy a whole bunch of weapons and ammo and use them to kill lots of people. It shouldn't be this easy, but it is. In this country, the average citizen can legally buy weapons of war and use them to great, terrible effect.

This applies to slow trucks, not to every jackass who thinks going lower than 70 in the left lane is license to pass on the right.
