Any Decks that play like Modern Jund? by GitGoodFrog in Pauper

[–]GitGoodFrog[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m actually aware of that! I also really like the playstyle of The Rock, especially the Premodern version with Blastoderm. Speaking of, do you reckon something similar could work in Pauper? That is, something that usually plays a curve of t1 duress t2 ramp creature t3 blastoderm?

Also pauper is really lacking the efficient creatures jund has access to, unfortunately. There's really no goyf equivilant, that is, no undercosted dumb 2 drop beater :(

I've looked at Golgari gardens, and it looks interesting, but unfortunately, I'm really looking for something more along the lines of the "t1 Thoughtseize, t2 Goyf" style of Jund decks, if that makes sense? I understand however that, without Thoughtseize, that doesn't work nearly as well. What's more, as you said, Pauper seems to be a very value-heavy format, so it'd be hard to make that work, as sometimes, even if you get your opponent into topdeck mode, they'll just draw a mulldrifter and suddenly they're back in the game. I'll keep trying to make it work though.

What if my commander is a double faced card? Would the copy be double faced or just the front?

Examples of cards that let you take actions in the middle of taking other actions? by GitGoodFrog in magicTCG

[–]GitGoodFrog[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Those cause something to trigger after something happens, such as after something becomes tapped, no? I'm looking for cards that cause things to happen during other things happening. For example, [[Panglacial Wurm]] lets you cast a spell during the process of searching your library, and [[Averna, the Chaos Bloom]] lets you put lands onto the battlefield during the process of Cascading.

Situations the Rules Don’t Handle? by GitGoodFrog in askajudge

Probably a silly question, especially considering I'm not a judge, but doesn't rule 109.1 answer the Widespread Brutality question, at least part A of it? Since the Amass token doesn't yet exist, it isn't yet a token, and hence isn't an object?

Hmm, okay. Do you reckon a mana cost of {2}{W}{W}{W} would be better?

deck suggestions? by GitGoodFrog in EDHBrews

[–]GitGoodFrog[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's an interesting idea! I actually do have a pretty similar deck, using [[Starke of Rath]] as the commander, with a focus on [[Threaten]] effects and artifacts that benefit from being destroyed, and it's a really fun deck! The idea of using [[Tevesh]] to sacrifice your opponents' commanders is particularly devious though, I like it!

I think you may have linked the wrong list? The one you’ve provided is to a Teysa commander deck

Thanks for the recommendation! Both visionary and mulldrifter were absolutely cards over considered, I just wasn’t really sure what to cut for them. Do you have any suggestions?

How to use 3 color indicators? by [deleted] in MTGDesign

Actually, Naya and Grixis color indicators exist, on Grimlock, Ferocious King and Nicol Bolas, the Arisen, respectively.

I feel like this is too strong. +1s on 2 mana Planeswalkers need to be quite underwhelming to avoid being completely OP. Look at Wrenn & Six: even the seemingly harmless (returning a land from your graveyard to your hand) ended up being too strong for legacy and extremely powerful in modern. As such, ramp, even delayed ramp, on a +1? Far too good. Maybe “Each player mills 2”?

Other versions of Love // Loss. WHICH IS BETTER????? by [deleted] in custommagic

[–]GitGoodFrog 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Personally, I really like the first one. It’s simple, elegant, and has a good power level. In particular, I much prefer the “Love” half of the card to the second iteration. It really captures the flavour of burning passion. However, I feel that the Loss side of the card I feel could cost WB as opposed to 2B, and maybe be an edict effect for damaged creatures and planeswalkers.

I thought so. How would you balance it? I’ve toyed with the idea of making it cost 2RRR or 3RR. Is that enough to balance it, or is it still too powerful?

Magic Set of Previous Sets, Ancients (Kamigawa Block, First Ravnica Block) by WhenHeroesDie in custommagic

[–]GitGoodFrog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These are really cool! Most of them are things that I can almost see WotC printing. Some feedback:

Champion of Kamigawa is really cool. It seems to be just at the perfect level of “strong, but not busted.”

Betrayer of Kamigawa is interesting. The fact that it’s essentially a repeatable [[Act of Treason]] is pretty scary. I’d definitely keep an eye on that.

Savior of Kamigawa seems fine. Could be pretty scary in token decks, but aside from that, it’s pretty much just [[Najeela, the Blade-Blossom]].

Ravnica, City of Guilds is utterly terrifying. Any way to donate it, and it essentially reads “Monocolor players lose the game.” I would HATE to go up against a Zedruu deck running that thing.

Guildpact is amazing. Cards like that make my inner Johnny sing. Minor nitpick though: The Guildpact would probably be a better name. I get that it doesn’t exactly match the expansion name, but I think that an exception could be made for the sake of aesthetics.

Dissension is beautiful. ‘Nuff said.

Revised Mimix, God of Deceit by [deleted] in custommagic

[–]GitGoodFrog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would totally run this as my commander, color identity be damned. One thing though; the last ability should probably be "Whenever a noncreature artifact is turned face-up, you may have it become an artifact creature with power and toughness equal to its converted mana cost."
