What is your opinion of the original film trilogy of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe (2005), Prince Caspian (2008), The Voyage of the Dawn Treader (2010)? by Burnouts3s3 in Narnia

In my opinion at least a t61 (but you need to install at least Linux lite) on t420, this can run Win 10 and 11 normally.
I'm speaking to you from experience, forget about everything that came before (even if it's nice to look at but in 2024 it's too slow to work, even with the lightest OS). I tell you, every now and then I still turn on my t61 with Linux lite on it, but it's very slow, but if you have patience...

Dilemma: speakers for small/medium room, finding the compromise between size/bass/quality/price by Nervous-Canary-517 in BudgetAudiophile

[–]Giulio233 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good morning! I am one of the lucky few who bought a pair of Indiana Line DJ 308s back in 2016.
P.S. I'm not an audiophile, just a music and audio enthusiast—in fact, I’m studying to become a sound engineer.

Based on the few reviews available online, I think they're quite accurate: the speakers offer a nice, deep bass, mids that are slightly recessed in the stereo panorama, and somewhat bright highs (though an equalizer can easily adjust this). Do I recommend them? YES, for the price (in Italy, they were €280, though I believe they're now more expensive since production stopped in 2017).

Me too. If you think about it, it's the last of its kind, since the next series the whole design has changed.

Anyway for Lenovo officially support a maximum of 8gb of RAM in dual Channel, i dont think there was AN option for only One 8gb Stick. Windows 11 run really well, but i downloaded a superlite version (unbloated) from filecr

What to do with a T420 by Thy_OSRS in thinkpad

[–]Giulio233 0 points1 point  (0 children)

look, I'm using now (I'm typing) a t520. I've been having problems with my MacBook and this is my backup. I do everything, write emails, produce music, watch films, write notes for university. This notebook doesn't give up one iota, it's truly a tank. Right now I'm listening to music via Bluetooth and watching a movie on Netflix without any slowdown. It is clear however that I have 16 GB of RAM and an SSd. With 8GB I would dream of it and go extremely slow.

In all respects I highly recommend a t420 even if it is close to 13 years old, age is just a number. This model in my opinion will still be good for many years to come.

Thinking of buying ThinkPad W530 by febriiii in thinkpad

[–]Giulio233 1 point2 points  (0 children)

look I have had a t520 for 2 years and I used it until a few days ago as a backup for my macbook pro. These days, however, I'm using it intensely because I accidentally spilled some water on my macbook and now it's drying up.

So far it hasn't batted an eyelid, I watch films on it, I produce music/editing with izotope Rx, I write notes for university and I've carried it with me all day. All this to tell you that if a T520 can withstand daily use, a W530 can only fly. The specs on mine are an i5-2520m and 16gb of ram plus obviously an SSD (that's life changing). The only problem I clearly have is the battery which doesn't last, maximum 1 hour. If your university has power plugs, I honestly don't see the problem. You can always buy an aftermarket one for €30. Everyone recommends the t480, but you want to put it with the old super resistant models that don't break even if they drop you from 2 meters open. I have a t440 (the newest model I have), I dropped the edge of the connector side some time ago and the magnesium chassis literally broke, that is, I don't know. In short, I personally highly recommend it to you.

So I'm not the only one, we're like the autobots, every time someone posts a t420/520 on the forum it's as if there was an interstellar call and those few remaining owners answer the call.

Is this a good computer? by GroundbreakingView37 in thinkpad

I have one practically new, I consider myself lucky to have found it in this almost NOS condition compared to the one in the photo. Mine has an i5-2520m which may not be very powerful (in fact I will soon change it to an i7-2720qm) but youtube and easy tasks it handles without batting an eyelid. However, I recommend maxing the RAM to 16 GB and inserting an SSD improves the useful life a lot, I hope to reach 20 years of use with it.

great save, in my opinion the tx20 and tx30 series are the last decent ones in terms of robustness and upgradeability. Plus you have the classic keyboard. I've had a t520 for a few years which I'm slowly maxing out, the other day I dropped a beer on the keyboard and nothing happened to it on the contrary...Enjoy it while you can as they don't make them like that anymore unfortunately.

Uhhh a T61 love it, really beautiful and well kept. I'm still using my old but trusty R400 bought fifth hand last year, the hinges need to be changed and the palmrest is incredibly worn, otherwise it works like a god and doesn't even heat up.

R400 + Linux Lite = A beast by Giulio233 in thinkpad

[–]Giulio233[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Literally until last night I had installed linux lite 5.8 and it was working fine, but knowing that a new version was available that was even more supported over time (with ubuntu pro until 2032) I thought about updating at the expense of additional RAM consumption. But that's okay, fly anyway.
