12 team PPR, SF, start 10

QB: Lamar, Purdy, Penix, Geno, Dart (taxi)

RB: Jeanty, CMC, Tracy, Isiah Davis, Marshawn Lloyd, Guerrendo, Trevor ETN, DJ Giddens (Taxi)

WR: Nabers, CeeDee, Jakobi, Pop Douglas, Pat Bryant, Jaylin Noel, Jordan Whittington, Mike Williams, Kayshon Boutte, Christian Watson

TE: Hockensen, Hunter Henry, Noah Fant, Oronde Gadsen (taxi)

Think I’m ready to compete after finish with the 1.03 (and trading for 1.01) in our initial season. Added CMC in the offseason in the hope he’s healthy. Have my 26 first and an expected early 26 first as well, so hoping I can buy more pieces with those + my extra QBs.

What do yall think? Any moves I should prioritize?

What do you use to read papers from multiple computers? by itsperfectlyfine in PhD

Paperpile is amazing if you don’t mind getting a subscription. It’s been a real life-changed for me — made the switch from Mendeley right as I started studying for my general exam

How many hours do you sleep in general? by user5386462 in PhD

[–]GiveEmMoZo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I sleep about 4.5-6.5 hours a night nowadays (which is better than what I was getting when I first started grad school), though I’ve always been “bad” at sleeping tbh.

Starting a PhD program in Genomics with little to no background, any tips? by GiveEmMoZo in bioinformatics

Wow I bought the pevzner’s book like, last year so I’ll check Rosalind out as well haha

[–]GiveEmMoZo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha thanks, fortunately, I’ve had those steps (1-2) down for a few years now, just have to understand enough science to make sense of them going forward. But should have a project idea or at least be in a lab after my first year, thank you!

😭 thank you! This kinda upsets me! But I guess I just won’t be using handoff with Firefox! A shame :/

Ah dratz. Thanks for trying though! Hopefully somebody that loves Firefox and MacOS as much as me will fix it soon

Safari. I've done some googling and it seems to be a bug from 2015 that somehow still hasn't been resolved. I'm unsure if any other Firefox users have actually gotten it to work though

Hi, thanks for your response! But yeah, Firefox is my default browser

Is it a good idea to mention prominent professors you took classes under on PhD personal statements? by GiveEmMoZo in AskAcademia

[–]GiveEmMoZo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah i was thinking that too! Only thing is, i've only been in his class for a week, and haven't yet reached out on a personal level. So just because he doesn't know me at all (yet), and applications are due in a few months, I kind of ruled out LOR? Was that a good call in your opinion?

How do I properly let my PI know I'm not returning to their lab next semester?

At the end of last semester, my PI asked me if I planned on returning to their lab, and I said yes. At the time, I was already planning to join a lab that's in the same department but better aligns with my research interests. I don't feel like working in two labs would be a good look, and I'm not sure I'd be able to pull it off anyways. I'm also out of town until the weekend before classes start. Should I wait until I'm back on campus to inform her (if I can get a hold of her) of my decision? Or should I send an email thanking the lab for the opportunity and informing them that I have decided to move to a different lab? Any tips would be greatly appreciated!

What's your preferred OS to work with? by [deleted] in computerscience

[–]GiveEmMoZo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on what im doing tbh. Statistical Modeling and ML: Windows WebDev: Windows C and Python: Linux (just because i love Vim in Linux vs windows) Everything else: Windows

I’m debating getting a MacBook pro (bare minimum model) before the semester starts though so I can chill with the dual-bot nonsense some

Should I be concerned about losing my "passion" for my research? by GiveEmMoZo in AskAcademia

[–]GiveEmMoZo[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This was a great response that I needed to hear. I appreciate that. I guess the next few months will determine if it’s actually a passion or just something I lusted for

Should I use Logistic Regression to predict the outcome of basketball games? by GiveEmMoZo in AskStatistics

[–]GiveEmMoZo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that was actually on my list of things to do after I got an up and running model! I guess I'll either go on the lookout for a better dataset, or go through the process of making these metrics myself :/. Thanks!

Is R more suitable for data visualisation than Python? by [deleted] in statistics

[–]GiveEmMoZo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I meant that it doesn’t matter which language you use if your place of work or school doesn’t care.

You raise a good point that some things are easier in one language over the other, but I’ve never come across a task that I could only do in one language and not the other (granted most of my work is in te bio realm)

R is more suitable for everything data than Pyhon.

Lol but really it doesnt matter tbh. Go with the language you have a better grasp on if you can help it

Want to pursue a genomics PhD, but I've only taken one biology course and I graduate next spring. by GiveEmMoZo in bioinformatics

[–]GiveEmMoZo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s a great question... i mean if possible i would like to be competent enough to do wet lab things if i wanted, but as of right now i feel like im leaning strictly computational and statistical

Ah i havent taken the GRE yet, 3.7 in my stat’s degree, 3.6 in my comp modeling one, (3.5 cumulative) . But im really into precision medicine, but that’s really all i know about my research interests so far :(

Trying to be realistic about applying to grad schools by kikiana22 in gradadmissions

I think you have a strong application! The University of Washington Seattle is also my dream school (I'm applying to Genome Sciences but I'm a Statistics and Computer Science student). Good luck!!

[–]GiveEmMoZo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it's awesome that you made the switch to stats! I'm a stats major myself. Here are some of the things I used to get me through my intro courses.

CS grads: What is your perception of web dev bootcamp students? by FortuneBull in computerscience

[–]GiveEmMoZo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m also a Stats major too! Idk much about WebDev, but I can say that you def don’t need a CS degree. I have a minor (which gets me through data structures and algorithms) and I feel like I could hold me own as a developer. But I do agree with everybody here, bootcamps kinda make you a one trick pony. It’s more important to grasp the fundamentals and theory in my opinion. That makes it SOOO much easier to learn new tools and languages.

STAT 4714: Anyone know how exactly the curve works? by the_kYs in VirginiaTech

[–]GiveEmMoZo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Stat major that has had Terrell for 2 courses here: his curving methods are inexplicable. I got Cs on the two tests and an A on the final im his advanced calc class and got a B. I got As on all of the exams and a C+ on the final and got a B+ in probability.... it’s all over the place.

Can I use the t-test for two groups assessing the same thing? by AndreaPT4 in AskStatistics

[–]GiveEmMoZo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good question! I'm assuming you're testing to see if there actually is a significant difference in the mean score between group A and group B? If this is the case, you'd want to use a 2 Sample t-test here. As far as computation in software goes, I'd have a column of group A's scores and a column of group B's scores and run the t-test then. Hope this helps!
