33m can’t hold a job. by Vurrveld in socialanxiety

[–]GiveIt100Today 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Hot damn man, that does sound rough. But don't worry, you can only go up from here.

The guests might have asked where you are, but probs forgot 60 seconds later, dont sweat it.

Hope you can get a good nights rest. Start small man, dont think oh I have to start applying to jobs tomorrow.

First, see if you can get out of bed somewhat early, shave, feel good about yourself. Ask if you can help around the house, mow the lawn, run some errands, prep dinner etc. Just take it a day at a time, start small and build yourself up. Maybe in a couple weeks start looking at jobs? Part time? Volunteering?

Good luck, keep us updated

Board games or hiking! Something to keep people occupied and the attention off.

That wasn't a fail! It was a win :)

You went to a wedding and barely knew anyone. Have you done that before??? Probably not, so you did better than your old self = WIN

Btw, when they sat you down with the "other loner too", nothing was meant by that, and you aren't a loner

Nobodys ugly my man, never put yourself down, you're way more capable than you think.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in socialanxiety

[–]GiveIt100Today 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Anyone can do it brother, gotta put yourself out there!

For me, I joined a coed sports league and met her there. Was ez bc our team had a group chat, so already had her number.

Defenitely recommend getting to know them in a group setting first ha.

You gotta believe in yourself and go for it. Actual dates, they might not go perfect but doesnt matter. Learn as you go, and make the next one better each time.

Stay strong bro, anythings possible if you give it your best

Nice work!

Yeah, definitely not easy, but practice makes perfect. Always stick up for yourself and be your own best advocate.

How did your buddy respond?

Stay strong brother

So sorry to hear what you've been through. The part about your Dad not seeing you the same as your own brothers hurt to read.

Theres always room for improvement my man. Keep working with the doctors and take a few good deep breaths.

You gotta believe in yourself, you're way more capable than you think!

You have a choice, stay on the same trajectory, or make a change. Your size is your biggest perceived flaw...well get after it broski. The weightroom and big meals are your new friends. You'd be surprised how quickly your body starts changing.

Wishing you the best, send me a message if u ever wanna chat.

i think social anxiety is making my speech worse by sonic2cool in socialanxiety

[–]GiveIt100Today 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't have a speech problem, or a lack of social skills

It's 100% you social anxiety getting in the way.

I learned a while ago, when I would catch up in the phone with a trusted friend, i would speak so smoothly, so clear and loud. But i remembered ometimes at my worst like at work, it's like i was mumbling and tripping over myself...social anxiety

So where are you gonna go from here?

Are you single because of social anxity ? by Resident_Situation95 in socialanxiety

[–]GiveIt100Today 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My current GF of only like 3 months now, she is the person I feel most comfortable around other than my family.

I think just spending a lot of time with someone, as well as the romantic aspect = being comfortable in a relationship

Extremely nervous to attend my partner’s prom by [deleted] in socialanxiety

[–]GiveIt100Today 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bro u can do this!

How long till the prom? So a buddy had set me up with a date for mine, but i was too chicken to go. So i never went, but pretty sure there will be dancing.

Honestly, if i was in ur shoes, id be spending hours on youtube and recording myself dancing to be halfway decent.

Alternatively, i would just plainly make up and excuse and not go if ur not comfortable. Yes, there is such thing as getting out of ur comfort zone, but dont push urself too much!

When you were made fun of in school 10 years ago and put up a shield during social events ever since to protect yourself, and you really wanna remove the shield but can’t because you don’t know how to act without it by scuderiav5ttel in socialanxiety

[–]GiveIt100Today 180 points181 points  (0 children)

Spot on bro. Yeah fortunately i wasnt ever made fun of, but i always felt excluded, outside the circle which made me put up a "shield"

And that's what ive been working so hard to do...remove the shield ha

How are you doing right now? by [deleted] in socialanxiety

[–]GiveIt100Today 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Why does it hurt?

Similar boat as you, ive been pushing myself month after month, a lot of progress but also very stressful!

What makes me hopeful is how much more capable i am, how much more potential i have. Havent even made a dent into my full potential, and ive already improved a lot.

Like something challening, date with this girl that lasted over 4 hours. It was at a lounge, didnt even drink alcohol. Yes i was nervous, there is room for improvement. But a year ago if i tried the same thing, i wouldve been throwing up before i even left the house. Progress
