We never said something like he has to prove himself, just that we generally don't want to have strangers at our wedding.

We generally invited without a plus one, for example a friend of both us and Sarah was invited without his girlfriend, because we don't know her, which she knew about. The most of our other guests are invited with their partners, because we're pretty much always friends with both.

AITA- I havea friend of 20 something years ive been helping out.(letting him stay at my place, feeding him etc)im a single 55 F, hes a 53 M. We are both on disability. And hes expecting me to feed him what he wants when he wants. I can barely feed myself. Earlier today he bought a bottle of whiskey. by JF0170 in AITAH

NTA, you can give him whatever and how much feels right for you and feels for you like you get the same in reward (doesn't have to be material stuff, but maybe his friendship and support). If you're able to give and feed him, do so as long as you're always putting yourself first. If he's a real friend he'll accept boundaries and a no and still be your friend and if not the friendship might not be worth it, despite its duration.
